For this very moment, Iris had escaped the captivity of her cabin and found herself at ease on the beach in Camp Half Blood. It was a long beach, but there was nature everywhere. Maybe that was why Iris felt so warm and easy whenever she was on or near the freedom of the shore. Of course, there she could secretly practise her powers at early hours in the morning without anyone knowing about it. Except her father, of course, seeing as he was 'lord of the waterways' and all. Rissie was sitting in the water, not at all worried about getting wet. That was the advantage of being a child of her father, she would only ever get wet in water if she wanted. So she could sit here, one of the only places where her head was clear and she could think, and not have to worry about taking her clothes back to the cabin and ringing them out.
With a sigh, she leant back on the sand and allowed the water to rush past her face. Occasionally, she would giggle when the water brushed her ears. It was a strange tickling sensation that one as ticklish as Iris could not help but laugh at. The girl spread out her arms and legs and suppressed a smile. She watched a small stream of water channel over her face as she willed it to. Looking back down the beach to ensure no one was watching. So she stopped. And just allowed herself to think for a few moments. Then the channel appeared over her head again and she chuckled. "If only I was free to show someone something like this." Maybe if I ever had a boyfriend. But I can't see that happening any time soon... She'd built up her hatred of her father for too long. That was the trouble. No. She just wouldn't admit it. The last thing she wanted was a few envious campers because they weren't born of the big three. Iris liked her friends and didn't want to lose them at any time. It would have been better had she remained unclaimed. But this 'you must be claimed by the time you're 13' rule sort of rid all chances of that. Not that the Hermes' kids weren't great fun. Iris loved them. Their pranking and excitable personalities. It was all so fantastic! Who could not love such a people.
So she sat up and moved her hands in a flowy direction in front of her. Just behind, followed a small channel of water. Sparkling and reflecting every ounce of light from the dawn sun. The sky was an awkward misty colour and one could not see further than a few metres off where the tide hit the girl sitting within it. But one could certainly tell it was dawn. Not long before it had been so terribly dark. It was the perfect chance to sneak out without anyone seeing. Bobbi still seemed to be asleep at that time. So no worries there.
