When Mitch came into his cabin as the sun set, it was eerily quiet. More so than normal. He looked around for a bit and noticed why. Tasha wasn't here. He smiled to himself. His half-sister liked her little practice sessions by herself. And who was he to stop her? Yes, he was cabin leader. But he knew she was a perfectly capable fighter. He had watched her once or twice. He walked over to his bed, kicking off his shoes as he walked. He would pick them up in the morning. For now, he needed to relax.

He had practiced all day. And as he dropped his sword next to his bed post, his muscles groaned in protest. With a sigh he collapsed on his bed. He yawned, though he wasn't sleepy. Night was like a drug to him. He could stay up forever. He liked the darkness that nighttime brought. It brought like a sort of peace and tranquility to the young boy. Clearing his throat, he sat up and looked around the cabin. Sure it seemed empty, since it was technically, but it was home. It was himself. It was his father. The one he had only met once.

He would meet him again one day, he was sure of it. More sure of it than anything in the world. If he trained Umbra well enough, the hellhound could help him get there. When the moon was high in the sky, the sun having set long ago, he looked towards the clock. It was late. Too late. She should've been back before now. The harpies at night would be giving her trouble like they did every kid that broke curfew. Frowning with eyebrows furrowed, he picked up his sword and sheathed it to his hip. Grabbing a square of ambrosia just in case, he slid his shoes back on and was once again out the door.

The Hades kids before him, had done a terrible job of reburying the mined gemstones and various other metals. He, nor any other child could touch them without death. That was the power. Even if he was a child of Hades, only the original miner could touch them. He had put up signs around the larger ones for people not to touch. The smaller ones, he had used his geokinesis to have the earth swallow them back up. He skirted past a rather large one. He would have to try and get the rest of these buried. They were too much of a risk.

Stopped at the edge of the cabins, he looked around. Where should the young boy start his search? He held his breath for a moment trying to listen for the screeching that could only mean the Harpies had found her. After a couple seconds he heard one. Racing off towards Fireworks beach he hoped she was fine. When he arrived she was sleeping on the sand. He raised and eyebrow and couldn't help the smirk that fell upon his face. She had probably been wiped out after shadow traveling out of the forest.

He ran towards he unsheathing his sword as he ran. The Harpies were standing next to her talking in their high pitch voices about what they should do to the young demigoddess. With a shout, Mitch jumped into the fray scattering the weird looking monsters. They cackled at him but he ignored them as he bent down next to Tasha and put the ambrosia square in her mouth. Standing next to her, he waited for her to stir. But until then he went into action. He started slashing at the Harpies. The wings unfurled and they flew up. They didn't want to deal with a boy that was awake and fighting back. At least not now.

They stayed flapping above him cackling and screeching every few seconds. He looked to Tasha and put a hand on her shoulder to shake her gently. It was near midnight and they needed to get back to the cabins. "Come on Tasha. Now would be a good time to wake up." His eyes never left the Harpies circling above them like vultures.

When Tasha jumped up and knocked an arrow and pointed it towards the harpies, Mitch stood there. But then her gaze landed on him and she asked a question. He smirked. Wasn't it obvious? "They thought you looked like a tasty meal. But I managed to scare them off."

He watched as she released an arrow between two harpies before they scattered. "And of course, that made matters better." He looked back to her in time to see her wipe at her eye. His eyebrows dipped in confusion and worry. Then when she went on to say sorry he smiled and put a hand on her shoulder and turned her to the cabins before walking next to her. "Happens to all of us. Don't worry. When I was shadow traveling I would pass out like that all the time."

He paused a moment. "Besides. That's what brothers are for. Protecting their sisters. Right?" He looked at her and gave a lopsided grin. Sure they were a different kid of sibling, not let himself and Summer, but they were siblings nonetheless and he would always be there for her, no matter what. Which is what brought on the next question. It wasn't like he hasn't noticed. But she looked as if she hasn't been getting the best sleep.

"By the way. What's been up? You look liked your wiped. Besides the traveling of course. You know you can tell me." He looked at her in worry. Not only was he her brother, but also the cabin leader. It was his job to make sure everything was running smoothly. If someone wasn't feeling good, it was his job to know. If someone wasn't sleeping well, his job.

He glanced around for a minute. The silence of the camp could be eerie to most. But to him it wasn't. It was natural in a way. The darkness was him. Then again, it was the children of Hades really. How couldn't it be? The darkness was where they shined. They controlled it in a sense. Well when they used the shadows to travel. He sighed and looked back to her waiting for her answer. He hoped that she gave him the truth and not some vague answer. Who knew? Maybe he could help her? And if it was really bad he was sure a Hypnos kid could help her out. They could put people into a deep dream free sleep. Something that everyone could use.

Since they weren't too far from the cabin he spoke again. "If you want, you can wait until we get back in the cabin. That way we make sure that no one else overhears?" He looked at her and concern flicked across his eyes for a minute.

Mitch couldn't help but grin at her when she said he was right. It made him feel good that someone had a lot of trust in him. And obviously she did if she could count on him being there for her. But it wasn't like he wasn't just there for her. He did have Summer as well. Although Summer looked out for her brother more than he looked out for her.

He shook his head slightly to himself at his thoughts. He was of course thinking about Katrina. He had no doubt fallen in love with the Huntress. His sister had warned him. Warned him every second she saw him to stop hanging out with her. That his feelings would grow too much. That he really couldn't act on them. That he should look at the girls around camp that were his age that he could hang, talk, and date that wouldn't get himself killed.

But he was selfish and he hadn't listened. And now he was in that position. In a love for a girl that couldn't return his feelings least she get hurt or worse. There was already so many deaths around here. Luke, Pandora, Bobbi, Max. It was all too much. He really only knew Pandora, but still the other hurt as well.

His face transformed into a grim smile. They almost needed a therapist here. He was snapped out of his thought by Tasha speaking again. Dreams? He faltered in his steps for a moment. Dream meanings could be good or bad depending on the inner lining meaning. His next words were spoken cautiously. "What exactly happened in these dreams?"

He looked around in the darkness. Wishing he could see more clearly in it. Sure he could control it, didn't mean he could see through it like it was the middle of the day. He looked back at Tasha. If these dreams were good they could lift the spirits of camp. If they were bad...well this camp already was bad. It didn't need anymore. But by the way she was acting, these dreams didn't seem all that good.

Mitch laughed at Natasha. Giving a small roll of his eyes as well he lightly pushed her back by leaning into her with his shoulder. "Aren't girls always right? Aren't you girls supposed to he like mental terrorists or something? At least that's what I remember Dane Cook saying on one of his performances." Yes. He listened to the comedian. It was hard getting a computer in camp, nearly impossible. Which is why he would wait until he visited home. Even then, those visits were rare and short. He missed being able to stay at home with his moms cooking. But he knew being here was for the best. He had to look after his sister after all.

Sisters were a funny thing. He thought he would only ever have Summer as a sibling. But then he came here. He met Tasha who showed up at about the same time. The two became close. And then they both got claimed by Hades. He was made cabin leader. To the day he still didn't know why. He guessed maybe they saw something in him. Maybe it was the fact of how close he could get to his siblings. Even the other boy in the cabin. Though his appearance was rare Mitch had talked to him. But his mind was wavering right now. He was thinking about how he now had two sisters. Both in Summer and Tasha.

The ground rumbled slightly and he steadied himself easy. He was used to this by now. His father had gotten mad at him for various reasons over the year and that was always how he "punished" him. He chuckled. His thoughts hadn't been on Hades. So Natasha's must have been. He almost asked. But then stopped himself. There were more important things at the moment. And then she asked him. He gave a small smile and shook his head. Better to be truthful right? "Not really. It's the whole feelings for Katrina thing. I mean. We can't ever be together. She's a huntress. But why would I feel so strongly for her if there wasn't a way." He paused and spoke softer. "I just want what's best for her. I don't want her hurt."

He looked at the ground stuffing his hands in his pockets as they walked. When she started speaking about her dream, his eyebrows furrowed in thought. This sounded bad. Really bad. He looked up at her with concern. "If someone is planting these dreams in your head, you need to tell Chiron. Not only that. But they must not realize how strong you are or how many people you have here that would fight with or for you." He put an arm around her shoulders giving her a small squeeze.

Maybe that was why he was chosen. He was always trying to be uplifting to those in his cabin. Always trying to give them words of advice. Words that seemed a bit to knowledgable for his young age. He dropped his arm once more and crossed his arms thinking about her dreams.

Mitch couldn't help but smile when he saw her smiling. And as he heard her talk he gave a short laugh. "Really? I assumed you all were. Maybe not all the time. But sometimes. I mean my sister can really do it at times." He loved both his sisters. But the relationships were different. After all, he grew up with Summer. So they were closer than he and any of his siblings in the Hades cabin. But that didn't mean that he didn't love Kavika and Natasha any less. Just different.

He looked up into the sky and wondered what each of the Big Three were doing. Were they always listening for their names? It sure seemed like it. Just based on the amount of times you said something bad and then something like the ground shaking happened. But, he had heard his sister say that Apollo made the sun a bit brighter when she gave him praise. So maybe it worked both ways. He shrugged to himself and was quickly pulled out of his thoughts by Natasha speaking again.

His stomach gave a small twinge as she spoke of the quest and knowing about it. He gave a small sigh. Darn. He had hoped to break the news to his cabin later in the week. Preferably right before he left. That way he didn't have to deal with the emotions. He could be facing death itself. And not his own. He was responsible for the others who went on this quest as well. It was a scary thought. But it was worth it. Katrina was worth it. At least to him. And if the others didn't want to help then they might've been able to back out. But they accepted it. And he was grateful. "It's a scary thought. I mean, I've gotten down there alone. So why should I have to take a group of others with me to retrieve her. But, Skye said so. So I have to. I wish there was a way I wasn't placing others in danger." He gave another sigh.


He listened as she talked about her dreams. "It doesn't sound like nothing. And he wouldn't say it was unless it really was. But that's no reason for you to feel like you're an idiot. It means that you are being precautions. Which is a good thing. Great thing really." He gave a slight pause as he considered his next words. "You know, I could go in there with you. Maybe give you some support?"

They finally arrived at the cabin and he let go of her to walk up the couple steps and open the door. He waited for her to go in before walking in. He glanced over at Kavika's bed and grinned. "At least one of my cabin members obeys rules and sleeps as heavy as a rock." He playfully nudged Natasha towards her bed as he sat on his own. He couldn't sleep. It would be too difficult.
