"Not really."
"Oh," he replied quietly. What was it that provoked her reaction? She seemed emotional which had lead him to such a conclusion, but now she was saying that it wasn't sad. Again, Luke was in a situation where he was confused and he had so many questions niggling in the back of his mind but he couldn't bring himself to ask them. The tension between them was what kept them at bay because he didn't want to make their conversations worse. It was hard enough anyway, one question could seemingly create a cloud of awkwardness.
"Uhh...sorry I'm acting weird."
"Don't worry about it," he answered with a soft smile. It was an almost instant reply so as much as he would have loved to have said she wasn't being weird, it was as if his brain had another agenda. Besides, it was blatant that she was acting unlike herself lately. Luke remembered when they had been friends, when he had a crush on her, she was so different to how she was now. He felt guilty because the change had happened when they had got together so maybe it was his fault.
"Oh, I will," he laughed slightly as he held his stuff.
"I should probably go too. I was going to meet your little sister at the climbing wall."
Luke guessed that the sister she was talking about was Lucy/Lux. Despite their many differences he seemed to get along with her, she wasn't egotistical like most of the Ares kids. Being the big brother he was though, he didn't like her seeing him upset or angry, it just didn't feel right. He wanted to be there for her. Luke realized he had zoned out for a couple of minutes and he saw Tal surveying his expression. Oh gods.
"Yeah, it was nice seeing you too," he waved awkwardly before he turned his back on her and walked away.
