Valerie let out an exasperated scream and threw her beloved notebook against the closed door her stepmom had just slammed. Running her hands through her hair angrily, she started kicking the abundance of dirty laundry that scattered her floor. She screamed again and then slumped to the floor, leaning against her bed and bringing her knees up to her chest. She wiped her eyes, ridding them of the angry tears but smearing her makeup in the process. She got up and started pacing but stopped quickly when she realized she had thrown her notebook. Rushing towards it, she plopped down on the floor and felt the familiar hard cover against her hands. She opened the book and examined it carefully to make sure none of her drawings or writing samples were damaged or bent. Relieved to find she hadn't damaged anything, she scrambled around, found a pen and began to write, yet again, about her hatred towards her stepmom.
