(Part One)
Bobbi had had a bad feeling about going into the woods that day. Why, she didn't know. It was like a prickle on the back of your neck when someone was watching you — it was some sort of weird feeling; one you couldn't clearly explain without getting weird looks. She'd told herself not to, but nothing bad had ever happened to her there. So there were a couple of creepy-looking trees and stuff there, and so the monster-proofing charms didn't work there... Bobbi didn't care at all. She'd never encountered any monsters there, and the worst she'd ever heard of in the woods was some pathetic empousa. Big whoop.
The reason she wanted to go into the woods was small and irrelevant, and could easily be achieved in a number of other places — the woods were quiet. There were plenty of places where you could transform a mossy, messy-looking tree into a page of A+-worthy descriptions for writing class. And that was precisely what Bobbi was doing in the woods... doing her homework. Her stupid homework. She knew there were some other people who had gone into the woods for the same assignment, and so she was just following what they were doing. Locating a clearing where the Athena girl Alia had said there were plenty of interesting plants, she sat down on a log that was sure to get her butt all covered with bark and opened the salt-and-pepper-style notebook she had brought along with her, beginning to write.
She had chosen a small, squat bush at the edge of the clearing to write of, eloquently describing its shiny, dark green leaves and the lush crimson berries growing on it. Before she knew it, she had filled in a page and a half with her messy script (whoa, apparently she had a lot of muse. I want to borrow some). Bobbi stood up, put down the notebook and brushed off her butt with her hands.
That was when it started raining. To Bobbi, it was no big deal — so she got a little wet. Her father had control over water, she didn't care. But before you could say oh snap, rain began pouring down in freezing cold sheets, drenching her before there was time for her to do anything. Though rainwater was dominating everything near her, you could still hear the whistling wind, bitterly cold and merciless. Between the horrible, freezing rain and biting wind, things began cascading down to earth. A tree limb here, a random treehouse there...
Literally 'a tree limb here.' With a loud crack that was silent compared to the rain and the wind, a branch whistled down, losing contact with its home, its edges splintery. The crack of the limb and tree losing contact was not heard by Bobbi, but the next noise made by said tree limb was.
After all, if a tree limb has fallen square on your head, you can't exactly miss it. That noise was the last thing she heard before everything went completely black.
OOC: This is a one-shot, so no posting. And this sucked. -.-
