Summer was mad. Her brother had forced her to go to this party in hopes of cheering her up. She really hadn't wanted to go, but once she got her Secret Santa person, she would feel bad about having Cinder rearrange things in order for it to work out. She probably wouldn't stay for the whole thing, but would go at least for a little bit. Not knowing if Jensen was going to go or not, she decided to dress up a little cute. If he didn't go, then she would definitely leave sooner. But then again, Cinder put all the couples together as Secret Santa. Chase/Olivia, Mitch/Katrina. Although that last one wasn't a couple, yet.

She was trying her hardest to make Mitch see that he couldn't pursue Katrina, but he was her brother. He listened to her to a fault. That fault was he was hanging out with her, but he wasn't going to do anything. She just hoped that Artemis was at least okay with that. She stayed laying in her bed, wondering which dress she should wear, then which heels, and which accessories. It was all so difficult. She wasn't the most fashionable person and she wasn't going to go to the Aphrodite cabin to ask for help. They would probably send hours on just her hair and makeup.

Finally rousing herself from her bed, she went into the bathroom. After taking a shower and doing everything else she needed to do, she pulled on some sweat pants and a shirt until she found her outfit. This gave her hair more time to dry. She liked and disliked that it was so thick. Sometimes thick hair just plain sucked. Her nails needed to be done so she grabbed two colors. They were her favorite colors. There was a light blue, and a slightly darker blue. All her nails were painted the dark blue apart from her ring fingers which she painted the light blue.

While waiting for her nails to dry she looked at her small choice for dresses. She owned three different dresses that she could choose from. One a blood red, one a blue, and one yellow. She frowned at the red one. It was too bright even though it was a Christmas-y dress. The yellow one just wouldn't do for the party. It was more of a sundress. She looked at the blue one. It was short, but it was very pretty and would totally go with her nails. She pulled it on and put it on. It fit her body nicely.

She smiled at herself. The first real smile in a while. She looked at her shoes next. It was easy to choose the white satin heels and they fit her good as well. They were also pretty cute as they had a little bow on the side. She walked back into the bathroom with some makeup. She would only do it very lightly though. Some mascara, light pink lipstick and a pinkish blush was all she needed. The mascara brought out her brown eyes even more. Since her hair was drier than it had been, she quickly styled it up. It formed this loose, messy, curled bun on her head and she left two pieces of hair to frame her face. Whoever said Summer couldn't dress up cute at times was definitely wrong.

She walked back out spraying on some Love Rocks perfume. The scent of violet, vanilla, and plum embraced her. She loved Victoria Secrets perfumes. With everything almost done she looked at her jewelry. She quickly pulled on the dolphin black diamond necklace, black crow feathers bracelet, snowflake diamond earrings, and four rings, two of which were little black flowers and the other was a gray stone and then a pearl. The first two choice of jewelry were of course Apollo's sacred animals and there wasn't a day she went without showing her support to her father. No matter the curse thing he had put on her.

She looked at herself in the mirror and nodded. She definitely liked her appearance even though she was going to something that Mitch was forcing on her. She grabbed the box that held her gifts. She didn't know Allie all too well so she had just bought the girl some jewelry. There were silver earrings that had silver stars dangling from them and a Keep Calm and Carry On gold necklace. With the box in hand she went to the party. It was in full swing when she arrived and after placing Allie's gift on the table with the other gifts she went to stand in a corner. That was until Mitch pulled her onto the dance floor where Cody's music had some people dancing. She had balked at first but with Mitch she couldn't help but smile. He was turning into quite the handsome and dashing young man.

"Mitch. Come on, you know I don't like dancing." He just smirked at her. "Yes. But you will dance with your younger brother because you love him. Even though he forced you into this." They both laughed at him and then they started dancing together. Some might find her odd for dancing with her brother, but they weren't doing anything like the couples were doing. They were just having fun.

When he was about to leave she paused him for a moment. "Remember what I told you Mitch. Be careful with her; don't get her or you into trouble. I couldn't stand seeing my baby brother hurt." She said as she gave him a hug and a swift kiss on the cheek. He hugged her back but grimaced at the kiss. "I know Summer. Don't worry, I'm smarter than I look thanks to you," He smiled at her and was off. She looked after him then looked around before she shrugged and started dancing again.

[Tara Winters]

Tara opened her eyes. The Hermes Cabin was a in constant motion, and not for the first time since she'd arrived at camp, Tara found herself being thankful that she'd been born deaf. Somehow she knew that if she could hear, after a few days of living in this place she'd be wishing she couldn't. She sat up on her bunk, and looked around the room at the chaos. It was only an hour before the Christmas party, and everyone seemed to be losing their minds. They were all running around in circles, the girls flipping through various dresses, and the guys watching and laughing at the girls who were so obsessed with what they were wearing.

She glanced over at Adam. He was one of the only people in the room that wasn't running around in circles. He was sitting on his bunk, leaning against the wall with his arms up behind his head. He noticed her watching him, and smiled. The two had kind of become friends since she'd been here. He was several years her elder, but they had gotten here about the same time. He'd been returning, and She had been taking her first steps into camp. He seemed to be watching out for her a little bit. He moved his lips then, talking only to Tara, no sound actually coming out, Are you going to get ready?

She nodded. She wasn't about to get caught up in all of this chaos. She would wait til they had left. She'd been smart earlier in the day. She'd fixed her hair and make up before everyone else had even started to get ready. Now, all she had to do was put on her dress and shoes. And it wouldn't be long before she could. The cabin was slowly emptying out. As people put on their finishing touches they headed out, and the Hermes cabin became less and less crowded. Finally, after what seemed like hours, it was just Tara and Adam. She stood up and turned to face her bunk. She knelt down and pulled out the trunk that she kept under her bed, and put in the combination to the lock she had put on it.

Resting right on top was a bright red dress. She lifted it up and pulled it out of the trunk. It had one strap over the left shoulder, and would reach just below her knee. She knew she would probably have the longest dress there, all the girls she'd seen so far had all been dining very short dresses, but Tara had never really been one to show off. She stood up, and glanced at Adam, they were the only two in here now, "If I leave this out long enough to go change, are you going to swipe something?"

He smirked, a crooked smile that she was sure would affect whatever girl he had his sights on. They hadn't talked about that kind of stuff. He nodded, "I won't mess with it."

She nodded and disappeared into the bathroom. It only took her a moment to change, and then she looked herself over in the bathroom. She was satisfied. She messed with her hair for a few seconds, but was pretty happy with the way it looked. She emerged out of the bathroom and moved to sit on her bed. Now it was Adam's turn, he disappeared into the bathroom, and Tara dug around in her trunk.

First she pulled out the silver shoes, and slipped them onto her feet, then looked for the few pieces of jewelry she planned to wear. The first piece was a sterling silver necklace shaped like a Christmas tree. It had tiny rhinestones in places, and she thought it suited the occasion perfectly. She reached behind her neck to clasp it, and reached into the trunk again. She found the bracelet set and the ear rings, and put both on, and by the time Adam came out of the bathroom she was dressed and ready.

They looked each other over. He was wearing all black except for a purple vest. Tara, of course, was in red. She smiled, and bent down to lock her trunk back and push it under the bed. "Well, I'm heading on. See you there?"

He nodded, "For sure."

She headed down to the party. Even before she reached it she wondered if she was making a mistake in going. The mess hall was crowded, there were lights and even from here she could feel the vibrations from the music. It must be loud.

She walked into the mess hall and stood there for a moment, just taking everything in. Everyone was dancing. Some people looked more thrilled about it than others. Some people looked like they had been forced and were being held at gun point. That's kind of how Tara felt. She didn't really know how to dance. When you can't hear the music, it's kind of hard to dance to it.

She could see a table with refreshments on it across the room, but of course that meant navigating the sea of dancers. She sighed. Guess she didn't really have much choice. So she started forward. She navigated through the first few yards with no problem then she got near the center, and it became more difficult.

Suddenly, someone ran into her from the side, and she spun around and took a step back, and ran into someone herself. She gasped and spun around, "OH, I'm sorry!"

Summer had been dancing for a couple minutes when she had decided to stop. When she went to turn around to go to the refreshments, some one ran into her back. This caused her to stumble slightly because of the heels. The cursed heels that she had decided to wear last minute. They made her legs look great, but what good was that if she stumbled around a lot. She caught herself from falling thanks to a guy in front of her. At the last second she had reached out for a shoulder and grabbed onto it. The guy had helped steadied her and then smiled and looked like he was trying now to laugh. "I'm sorry about that. Heels you know." She said pointing down to her feet.

Face now red, from embarrassment more than anger, she turned around to face whoever it was that had pushed her from behind. She had just barely caught the end of the sorry they announced and she took a deep breath before speaking to see who had done it. "Sara! What the heck?"

[/b] But she had to pause and do a double take. This wasn't Sara. Sara wouldn't wear red, at least if she had heard her right she wouldn't. She remembered her saying something about wearing blue or black. Them she heard from Mitch that she wasn't going to this thing because she was upset about Bobbi dying and didn't want to go have fun at the moment.

Summer had thought that sounded right, since she had been the Poseidon cabin leader. But still, if this was Tara she should've dragged her sister out like Mitch dragged her out. "Wait. You're not Sara. Right? Tara is it? Well I'm Summer. It's nice to meet you." Almost all thought of the little bump was out of her mind. If she hasn't been in her heels she wouldn't of stumbled around. Besides, judging for her face, Tara was actually sincere about her apology.

She started her journey back to the refreshments but had raised an eyebrow an motioned towards them with her head at the twin. She actually looked good in red and for a moment Summer wondered why Sara never wore red. Upon arriving at the table she looked around for a moment wondering what she should have. There were many different kinds of drinks and then there were the little snacks. She settled on what looked like fruit punch and one of those chocolate oranges. The kind where you hit them on something and they break into little orange looking slices that taste like chocolate with a hint or orange.

She slammed it on a nearby bench before sitting down and unwrapping it. Sticking a slice in her mouth she turned towards Tara, wondering what she could say to break the silence.

Tara couldn't believe her clumsiness. She looked up to see the brunette looking her over. Sara. There it was again. No matter where she went she couldn't escape her twin...not that she wanted to, she'd just gotten her back after all. But, at the same time, it had been a long time since she'd been mistaken for her sister, and now it happened several times a day. She gave a silent sigh. "Yeah. It's Tara."

Summer. That was good to know. Tara vaguely remembered Sara mentioning a girl named Summer, but Tara hadn't been paying a lot of attention at the time. Summer seemed to be heading towards the refreshments, and since Tara had been headed that way in the first place, decided to follow her. She didn't have anyone else to talk to after all. Maybe she could make a new friend. She silently shrugged as she followed Summer to the refreshments.

It was much easier to move around now, Summer was leading the way so a lot of the time people were already out of Tara's way by the time she got through. She paused in front of the snack table. Summer seemed to be going for the punch, but Tara wasn't really interested. She wasn't thirsty. Instead she grabbed a handful of M&M's and sat down on a nearby bench.

She was pretty much infatuated with the people dancing when suddenly the bench gave a violent shake. She nearly jumped out of her skin, and resisted the urge to scream as she looked up at Summer. "Oh my- You scared me!"

Then she gave a smile and moved her hand up to cover her face a little. She was still pretty jumpy. Having your sister suddenly reappear after being "dead" for five years could do that to ya. "Sorry about that, I'm still getting used to this place...I thought the bench had come to life or something."

Summer jumped as Tara jumped. She had to stifle a laugh for a moment before taking a breath. "I'm sorry! I didn't mean to. I was just breaking this so I could eat it." She said as she held up the now sliced up chocolate orange. For once, a real smile was on her face instead of the fake one she had had since the accident. Even almost all her thoughts were gone from that. She was actually having a good time.

She shook her head at what Tara said last. "No. Benches don't come to life here. At least I haven't came across one that did." She looked to the dancers and gave a small sigh. She really wasn't a good dancer. She just sort is stayed in place and moved her arms. She sort of moved her body, but she definitely wasn't as good as some of the others out there. With a quick side ways look to Tara, she wondered if she could dance.

Her mind told her probably not, but her brain seemed to think that even deaf girls could dance. Couldn't they feel they pulsating energy or something like that? She turned towards Tara and waited until the girl was looking at her before speaking. "So, before you crashed into me and I almost scared you to death, were you having a good time?" She paused for a moment as she thought over that question and then deduced that it didn't sound right. "Or should I say, are you having a good time?"

She smiled at her, genuinely curious about her answer. She had been having a good time until Mitch left her. Them it was okay. But now that she had someone to hang with, she figured it would be slightly better. But then her earlier thoughts nagged at the back of her mind. She really wanted to know the answer to the dancing. "Hey, I hope this isn't rude or anything, but do you dance? I mean I know your deaf, but can you like feel the energy or something and dance?" She hoped Tara wasn't offended by her answer. It was just something the Apollo girl was curious about. She had never came across someone who was deaf before so it was a good question. Or so she thought.
