Cody was up bright and early the morning of the party. He had to make sure that the instruments were set up and everything was accounted for. So, in his PJs he walked over to the Mess Hall. Cinder had sure done a good job with the decorations, though it looked like she still had a little bit more to do. Probably some last minute stuff. He noticed the stage had been set-up with the instruments he wanted. Guitars, piano, keyboard, drums, and a microphone. He nodded to himself with a smile and ran back to his cabin to get ready.

He was really psyched for this party. He was able to do what he loved and people could have fun. He quickly took a shower, noticing that Cinder was already getting ready as well. She was the head of the committee with James, whom was also getting ready. They needed to be there early, but so did Cody. He needed to make sure the music was playing by the time the first person walked in. Taking a fast shower he hopped back out and looked at the clothes that he had laid out on his bed.

He first pulled on the jeans. He didn't have dress pants, but these jeans were the next best thing. They were pretty much brand new. With those one he pulled on the plaid shirt that was long-sleeved and a button up. It was a nice look together and the normal, but a little bit dressier for the young boy. He then pulled on his boots. They were the only dress-type shoe that he had and they completed the outfit. For a second he was taken back in his memories of the farm that he and his dad lived on. But then of course, he was reminded of the way his dad had died. He rubbed a hand over his face trying to erase the memory unsuccessfully.

He stuck his ever changing instruments, guitar pick in his front pocket. In his other one, he stuck an iPod. It was full of Christmas music for when people weren't singing. At least there would be some type of sound going on. Some of it was better known, and some of it was from newer artists. He just hoped the people liked it. He sprayed on some McGraw cologne to complete the look. His eyes scanned the room making sure that he wasn't leaving anything behind. Just then he noticed the little white and red box with a green bow. He gave a sigh of relief and grabbed it.

Inside were Arinne’s gifts. He knew that she liked the ocean. He believed she was a water-nymph but he wasn't so sure. Whatever reasons though, the set was pretty cute. It contained: a silver seashell pendant in the shape of an oyster with a pearl being seen inside, silver hoop earrings with a starfish, sand dollar, and seashell attached, and last but not least a bracelet with white seashells and blue starfishes with gold holding it all together. He thought they all looked very pretty and unique. With those in his pocket he headed towards the party.

He arrived a short time after Cinder. The second to arrive in fact. He walked over to the table after giving her a quick nod and put Arinne's gift on it. He wouldn't really have time to sort her out from the crowd if he was busy with music. Amber was supposed to help him, but she hadn't been around for the process so he didn't know whether she would or wouldn't. With that done, he walked up to the stage and plugged in the iPod. He automatically turned the music on. The first song to come on was It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year by Andy Williams. Andy's voice rang out through the party as guests started arriving. Once it looked like everyone was here, Cody paused the song and stepped up to the mic. "Let's get this party started! If you want to come and sing just come sign up and I will call you up." He said before stepping off and turning the music back on. This time It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas by Johnny Mathis came on.

Allie felt very pretty.

Even though she was only wearing a thin, raggedy white dress and her hair was just dried, she already felt the rush of excitement through her veins at the sheer potential of tonight, and at her own part to play. She had never been a real benefactor in anything this festive and big, but tonight, the lighting was all hers. A responsibility. Someone was counting on her. She bounced on her heels just at the thought of it.

With a flash of realization, Allie leaned back from the mirror. How were you supposed to do make-up? First, last, third, in the middle? 200 years ago, there was no readily availiable glittery mascara or curling irons, not that the nymphs even used the stuff. But, if she was going to this dance, she wanted to look as lovely as humanly possible. It was, after all, her first public debut other than a few scattered ventures into the camp at night. Not many people knew her other than Cinder, who she had shyly asked if she could work on the lighting for the celebration.

And the Aphrodite girls, who she had come to at the very last minute in desperation, asking for their guidance in what was considered the 'modern' dresswear. They had fawned over her naturistic comeliness, and showered her with various powders and sprays that she didn't even know how to put on, along with a dress wrapped in paper of some sort and some flats, since they told her high heels would make her 'too tall'.

In their vibrant instructions, she thought she heard something about 'curling her hair' with some sort of black contraption. On the wall, she spied an outlet that looked remotely like the plug at the end of the...thing, and took the liberty of cautiously sticking it in. There was an on/off switch, and she was sharp enough to guess what that was for and clicked it on.

A little red light flicked on, blinking. Oh dear, was it broken? For a long moment, she held it away from her, looking for any defects. Until it stopped, and the light stayed on, as if beseeching her to do something. Carefully, she poked the long white cylinder attached to the handgrip.

A cry escaped her lips, and the contraption clattered to the floor. The blonde cradled her hand to her chest and squeezed her eyes shut, tears budding at the corners of them. "What's wrong?" The girl's voice was muffled from outside, and the door creaked open. One of the daughters of Aphrodite stood there, and when she saw Allie trying to nurse her fresh new burn and looking like she was about to cry, she instantly flitted over and picked up the cursed thing.

"Darling-"

"Get that thing away from me!" Altair cried, flinching away. The girl rolled her eyes and led Allie by the arm back into the cabin, seating her at one of the vanities with all their numerous holes and drawers. Wordlessly, she plugged the black thing in and waited. Then she began taking sections of Allie's thick golden hair and loosely wrapping it around the hot white stick. When it fell, it was set in a perfect ringlet.

Allie watched in quiet awe as the girl made a masterpiece of her feathery hair, before telling her to close her eyes and spraying it with a heavy, cloying mist that made her cough. After that, she smothered a pale, ivory cream onto her hands and applied it softly to Allie's already smooth complexion. Her hands were fast and skilled, and the star nymph couldn't help but admire her.

Before long, the female smiled at Allie and turned the swivelling chair around. The blonde's mouth dropped. Staring back at her was a brown-eyed princess. Soft, pale-colored tresses fell in flawless curls over her shoulders and back, bangs sweeping to one side. Her skin was even creamier than usual, with a faint rose tint to her cheeks that she had never possessed. Her lashes were long and black, coming close to brushing her cheeks when she blinked and seemed to be covered in...glitter? How lovely!

Allie pursed her luscious, pink lips and smiled widely at the mirror, before shooting to her feet and taking the daughter of Aphrodite in a heartfelt, thankful embrace. The girl laughed and separated herself, warning her not to mess up her new look. Allie nodded feverishly. She had to look like this all night.

With a jumble of excited thanks escaping Allie's mouth, she carefully moved back to the bathroom where her dress was waiting. And something else, as well. Allie stared at the padded, spandexy thing with the little hooks in the back, holding it up gingerly as if it was an old gym sock. Was this...a modern brassiere?!

Cheeks even more crimson than before, she cautiously took off her thin white dress and slipped on the...underthings that she had been provided with. Then, the dress. The top part was a glittery silver color and had only one sleeve, which wasn't really much of a sleeve at all. It barely covered the top of her shoulder, before sloping downward on the other side with a lovely black bow at the waist. After the bow, there was only loose white fabric that swished every time she moved it.

Marvelous.

Nerves racing, Allie meticulously pulled it on, barely managing to zip it up in the back, even with her long, slender arms. Zippers were so peculiar. Not that she preferred the myriad of different buttons and strings she was used to wearing. Heavens, no. With a confident smile at the mirror, Allie slipped into her sequined silver flats and clipped her pearl necklace, before exiting the Aphrodite cabin.

She hoped she looked pretty enough.

When she entered the Mess Hall, she almost didn't recognize it. The strings of popcorn, red and white tables, shining wood dance floor...everything was gorgeous. Honestly, Allie didn't think she could do much else with the gorgeous layout. But Cinder was counting on her, and Altair Aquilae did not break her promises. With a timid wave to the dark-haired girl and the young blond boy setting up on the stage, she began.

In one of the corners, tucked into a nondescript cardboard box, were her tools of the trade. And so it began. Allie began with the string lights, dragging a step-ladder around with her so she could twine the gold lights around the columns equally. The red and white set she lined the corners of the walls and ceiling with, and alternate the popcorn were short strings of lights matching the ones wrapped around the columns. Multicolored wires bordered the stage and twinkled slightly for effect. Allie personally placed tea lights on each table, lighting them with her own white fire so orange flames would not look strange against the color scheme.

As people began to enter, she watched them shyly from a place by the corner, head tilted at the folks she did not know. She quickly remembered the gifts she had been required to bring, for a girl named ‘Summer’, who was a daughter of Apollo. Allie didn’t know any girl named Summer, as with most people, so she went with what she knew. A sun ring she had purchased from a nondescript consignment shop, a tin of chocolate (didn’t everyone like chocolate?), and a sunflower hair clip she had made herself, with a brown button in the middle. They were all tucked inside a shiny silver gift bag, which she now grabbed from inside the cardboard box and placed it on the table.

Allie hid the cardboard box in a back closet along with the step-ladder, and stepped back to scrutinize her work. With everything in her, she wanted to please the people attending. And hopefully, she would.

As music began to play from strange instruments and black contraptions, manned by that blond boy, she watched in quiet awe. She had never seen such a thing. It seemed all he needed to do was mess with a switch, and coo-coo-ca-choo, there was suddenly musical entertainment. How lovely.

She wandered onto the stage and looked over the boy’s shoulder, seeing as she was a good three or four inches taller than him. “Excuse me? I…I was wondering how those worked.” The blonde-haired nymph gingerly pointed to the speakers, brown eyes curious and doe-like.

Arinne squeezed the water out of her hair and into the sink, trying to stem her flow of tears. Why had she agreed to go to this damned thing, anyway? Her girlfriend was dead. They had already hosted the funeral, and everyone had forgotten by now. Everyone except for her, and maybe Tal. This was what she got for actually starting to love someone; a death. Arinne was convinced she had just died because of her when in actuality it was because of Maria; like there was some curse on her that made people who got too close run. She had never actually romantically had the possibility of loving anyone until Bobbi, and now she was dead inside. As cold as a rock, and as lifeless as a sock of them.

She pulled on a pair of black plastic shorts above her bikini incase she had to make a quick get away to the ocean for some reason. Then she pulled on a black blouse, shoved on a gold necklace and slipped on her pink jacket over it. She left her face make-upless, and instead just slipped on her pink sandles and started walking to the mess hall. When she got there, she had to take a moment to admire the decore before she yanked herself back to reality. She hear Cody calling out about people singing or something, and she realized she had to give him her gift. He was a music-lover, and so was Amber James, so Arinne had asked her. Amber had shrugged and said something about Johnny Cash because he was country, and Kansas because it's awesome, so she had gotten him a Johnny Cash and a Kansas album.

She started working her way up to Cody, trying not to cry at the thought of herself being there with Bobbi. She just got up to the place Cody was sitting at and held up the gift-wrapped box. "Uh... I'm Arinne? You're Secret Santa?" She said blankly. She probably should have left it on the gift table, but she thought that was a bit stupid. He should know who's giving it to him.

Arinne couldn't help but think that he was kind of cute. Then she mentally slapped herself. No matter how long Bobbi was gone, Arinne's heart belonged to her. Not some country boy, but Bobbi Rianne Koester. Arinne closed her eyes for a second, biting back tears, then she opened them, trying not to give off how she was feeling inside. She bit her tongue and steadied her breathing. Relax, Ari... relax...

When the girl with the light blonde hair and big brown eyes walked up to Cody in the silver, black, and white dress, he couldn't help but smile. She was a bit taller than him, but he didn't mind even though he was sure that most guys would. Everyone looked so beautiful here. Well the girls looked beautiful. He couldn't talk about the guys. That would just be plain weird. He didn't roll that way. She pointed over to the speakers and asked how they worked. He opened his mouth to speak before closing it again. How could he put it? He didn't know all the technical words and such. He just knew they worked.

"First off, hello I'm Cody Thompson. Don't think we've met before." He said as he held out his hand for her to shake. "As for your question, I don't know exactly. I mean the best explanation I can give you, is that the songs stored on here in the memory," he held up the iPod, "go through the wires which are connected here and here," he pointed to the respective parts where wires ran, "before finally getting to the speakers where they are blasted out in sound waves and rhythms."

He stopped there and smiled. That was by far an interesting question to say the least. "Sorry I couldn't be more helpful. I'm not a big tech person. I just made songs to be played here and stuck them on the iPod and plugged it in. It sort of does the rest." His reddened a hint by a shade of embarrassment at not being more helpful to Allie.

"So who are you the Secret Santa of? If you haven't found her or him yet maybe I can help you." He asked her with genuine interest. Cinder went to some great lengths to pair up people. Some had never met before, some were good friends, and some were dating. That was the only thing that confused him about his. He knew her slightly, they weren't dating, but it wasn't like he would altogether know her and what she would like. This was why he had just stopped at jewelry. Every girl liked that right?

The next person to walk up to him was Arinne. In black and pink she looked really cute. She handed him the gifts and he smiled at her. "Thanks. I will have to put these on my iPod soon. I've been wanting some new music. One moment. Let me go run and grab yours really fast." He set off for the table and when he found the gift wrapped box he grabbed it and walked back to the two girls. "I wasn't sure if I would be able to find you tonight so I had stuck in on the table. But here ya go." He smiled at her and handed her the little wrapped box.

But then he really looked at her. She didn't seem all too cheery at the moment. Not compared to Allie and the rest of the girls here. Well and Summer whom had been dragged here by Mitch. But even she was dancing. Dancing! That would be perfect. Maybe it would cheer her up a bit. He remembered vaguely about how supposedly Arinne and Bobbi were a thing. Or at least really really good friends. So her death was probably hitting pretty hard on Arinne. He cleared his throat before asking. "Do you want to go dance Arinne? The music all set up for now and Amber is due to come sing at any moment." Just then Amber walked up and Cody turned off the iPod so she could sing her songs and such. When he turned back to Arinne and Allie he looked at both girls curiously hoping Allie wouldn't find it rude that he was going to leave her to go dance with Arinne.

Arinne was handed a small wrapped box, and she expressionlessly opened it up. "These are cool." Se said half-heatedly, doing her best to smile; hiding emotion had never been a strong suit, but to show that her sadness had nothing to do win him, she slipped on the pieces of jewelry. Seashells. Clever. Like she hadn't that gift before. She looked back up at him and he seemed to be calculating her. A normal girl would feel insecure, but it wasn't like the first time a guy had stared at Arinne.

Uh-oh. Most important decision of he night; dance with the cute boy or go and sulk and pretend you're not there? At first, the answer was clear; "Um, I don't..." then the idea wasn't so bad. Amber started singing, and it was pretty much a song that described how Arinne felt. Dancing with Cody couldn't be that bad, right? She took a deep breath. "Why not? Sure." she said, shifting slightly.

Slowly, she found herself walking out to the "dance floor"', but not o the middle, to the side where people weren't cluttering everything. She then turned and looked at Cody. No idea what to do. Dancing had never been her strong suit, so she figured she would wait for him to start. Luckily, she had decided to wear the sensible shoes instead of the five inch heels. Can you say "DISASTER?" I mean, really...

Cody hesitated for a moment as she spoke. For a moment he had thought that she really didn't like the jewelry but then she placed them on. He figured that if she really hasn't liked it, then she would've just kept it in the box and went on with her day and completely forgot about them. But as he thought about it, he had second thoughts on his gift. His choice was probably really obvious. Perhaps it would've been better to go for something else completely. Something that would've been almost random in pieces of jewelry.

As she started to turn him down, he had been about to nod. It would've been fine to him had he been turned down. But then she paused and seemed to second guess herself because she accepted. He turned to the Allie and gave a small smile. "Excuse me, will you?" He nodded to her and then walked with Arinne to the dance floor. She looked at him and he decided he could start them off. Since it was a slow song, he stepped sort of close to her and took one of her hands in his own, and draped his other hand to her waist, leaving her other hand to go where she wanted to place it.

They started to slow dance and he gave a small smile and looked from the pieces of jewelry to her. "You know, if you really don't like those, you can return them and get something else. It was a too obvious of choice. Probably would've been better to go with a different theme." There was a slight embarrassed tinge to his cheeks, but it wouldn't be noticeable unless you looked really closely. He looked at her with a small smile wondering how she really felt about the gifts.
