[/i]Amber stared a herself in the mirror, pulling up her shirt. She was so slim! It made her happy to just walk around, now. And she could start eating again soon, so that was a bonus. Especially since today was the day. The day that everything happened... Her first flash mob. Everyone knew that something big was going to happen at the campfire, but no one knew what. amber had started the rumors to get people to come, and it looked like it was working since people passed her window, going n the direction of the amphitheater. Amber wasn't ashamed to say that she couldn't wait. She looked slimmer then ever, and she hoped that the song they were singing would be enough to life camp spirits. The blonde tucked her shirt into her skirt, smiling - truly smiling - for the first time in almost two months. She had on a white shirt with a black heart on it and a black lace skirt, she pulled on a grey suede jacket. She and Keelin had talked it over, and they decided on the outfits. Amber had honestly forgotten what hey had said for hair, so she just pulled hers into a simple and clean ponytail.
She clicked her combat boots together, then put the microphone headset in her bag. Only Maddie knew what was happening, and that was only because she had to set up confetti cannons and speakers and such for them. She said she had tried to rig them so they wouldn't attract monsters, and Amber just hoped she had done it right. These thoughts swirled around her as she took a small sip of water, then sprinted out of her cabin and into the twilight of Camp. It was only moments before she got to the amphitheater, moving behind a tree to set up her headset. She sat in an empty bench and waited, practically bubbling with excitement.
It was cold, but that was okay; looking around, she saw people huddled in blankets. Even a few sickies had come to see what all the hubbub was about. It wasn't long before Keelin took her place, headset on. Luckily, no one noticed. Soon, it grew silent. The brushes of pink smeared across the sky and provided the little light that was needed to be able to see. Everyone sat in suspense, waiting for what was coming. Keelin caught Amber's eye, and Amber nodded, getting ready to bolt. The whole camp jumped when the music started, just a lone piano. It want in sight because they had recorded it before hand; Amber would stop it when she got up there. She waited only ten seconds. Just as people started to recognize the song, Amber watched Keelin stand up.
"You can be the greatest,"
Amber quickly but quietly sprung from her sprung from her seat and ran onto the stage, not making a sound. A glance showed that everyone was still looking at Keelin. Good. The fifteen year old turned off the music with a touch of a button and started playing the piano. She waited for Keelin to stop singing.
"You can be the best, You can be the King Kong banging on your chest."
Amber started singing, her voice ringing out in a melody as crystal clear as the air in front of her.
"You can beat the world, You can beat the war, You can talk to God go banging on his door." She watched Keelin place the guitar on her arms and start. Adding guitar to the mix of music. "You can throw your hand up,"
"You can be the clock,"
People were starting to grin now, recognizing the song; some even started singing along. Amber felt one feeling she had only ever felt on stage... Elatedness. The world melted away with her problems and her fears until the only thing that was left was smiling faces, a piano, a microphone, smiling faces, and her. She felt like she was floating as people started to clap to a beat to give the song a little something extra. Amber felt totally at peace. Infinite.
"You can move a mountain,"
"You can break rocks,"
"You can be a master,"
"Don't wait for luck,"
"Dedicate yourself and you can find yourself,"
This time, they both sang. Not only that, but confetti and candy cannons showered the audience. People grabbed for candy and a few people cheered. Amber smiled, really feeling the song and feeling like nothing would ever stop her again. Her voice filled with energy and she scraped some of this emotion into a bottle to remember later if she ever needed too. She had been feeling down recently, and this feeling was all she needed to get her spirits up.
"Standing in a hall of fame!"
"And the world's gonna know your name, yeah,"
"Cause you burn with the brightest flame, yeah,"
"And the world's gonna know your name, yeah,"
"And you'll be on the walls of the hall of fame!"
The whole crowd was cheering now, so Amber was grinning like a maniac while she continued playing piano and Keelin kept playing guitar. She decided right then and there that she was going to do this again. She would even hold auditions if Keelin didn't want too. But she stopped thinking about that; she shut off her mind and let herself fall into the music, closing her eyes.
"You can go the distance, You can run the mile, You can walk straight through hell with a smile!"
"You could be the hero, You could get the gold, Breaking all the records they thought that never could be broke!"
Even the sickies were standing up now, holding hands above their heads and clapping to one continuous beat; they were golden. Amber could tell that the camp was going to be talking about this for a while. Maybe they would even be happy for a while... You never knew, but Amber was hoping.
"Do it for your people, Do it for your pride, How you ever gonna know if you never even try?"
"Do it for your country, Do it for your name, Cause there's gonna be a day-"
"When you're standing in the hall of fame, yeah!"
"And the world's gonna know your name, yeah,"
"Cause you burn with the brightest flame, yeah,"
"And the world's gonna know your name, yeah,"
"And you'll be on the walls of the hall of fame!"
People were jumping up and down and singing and clapping and Amber knew that it had nothing to do with the song itself. It had to do with the fact that everyone could anything. It had to do with the fact that Amber and Keelin had the guts to come up and do that. It had to do with everything that had been so lousy the past while was melting away, and people were allowing themselves to have fun for the first time in a long time. Amber felt so happy just to stand there and be a part of making camp came alive again, and it filled her piano playing and her singing with more energy.
"Be a champion, be a champion, be a champion, be a champion!"
"On the walls of the hall of fame!"
"Be students, Be teachers, Be politicians, Be preachers!"
"Be believers, Be leaders, Be astronauts, Be champions, Be truth seekers!"
"Be students, Be teachers, Be politicians, Be preachers!"
"Be believers, Be leaders, Be astronauts, Be champions!"
Amber grinned as she kept singing. Any good feeling in the world was what she was feeling. Even love. She loved her sister Keelin, and she really loved music. Yes, she was hopelessly in love with music. And it wasn't even a sad thing, really; it was one of the few things in this world that you can lose yourself in but it can never break your heart.
"Standing in a hall of fame!"[/i]
"And the world's gonna know your name, yeah,"
"Cause you burn with the brightest flame, yeah,"
"And the world's gonna know your name, yeah,"
"And you'll be on the walls of the hall of fame!"
Amber closed her eyes again, repeating one verse, but with more energy then even the people singing the original song did.
"You can be a champion,"
"You could be the greatest,"
"You can be a champion,"
"You can be the best,"
"You can be a champion,"
"You can be the king kong banging on your chest,"
She was still grinning, knowing the end of the song was coming, but still elated and sitting on a cloud as her hands hit the keys and they emitted an amazing sound. She made a mental note to tell Keelin they had to do this again as she kept repeating the one line.
"You can be a champion,"
"You could beat the world,"
"You can be a champion,"
"You could beat the war,"
"You can be a champion,"
"You could talk to God, go banging on his door,"
She braced herself for the last part of the song. It was sad that it was ending, but that didn't matter.
"Standing in a hall of fame!"[/i]
Amber threw her hands off the keys and stood up; everyone was clapping now, but not to the one beat like before. She walked to the edge but middle of the stage and held hands with Keelin, bowing deeply and grinning the whole time. She didn't come up until the crowds cheering had faded, but even then they were still clapping. Amber felt the butterflies of a new performer, but she felt more happy about it then any other time in her life.[/blockquote][/blockquote][/blockquote]
