April sat inside the arts and crafts building. It had seemed like it had been years ago when she last sat here. When in reality, that was very much true. Until recently she had been on the hunt with other Huntress'. She had not had time to come and hang out at camp. Plus, why would she want to? It was quite boring here after a couple of weeks. You could only do so much. She pretty much knew everything that the lessons taught. She scoffed at the thought.
She remembered thinking that exact same way before she was a Huntress. Back then she had thought that the girl who vowed their lives to Artemis were idiotic. It was only once a girl talked her into it did she find out how amazing it was. She was able to live! Live forever! Unless she got killed my a monster. Which of course was highly unlikely due to her skill with her sword and dagger. Not only that, but the other girls had her back.
For good reason too. She had theirs. She always had their backs. She looked around the room growing bored of it quickly. So of course she headed out. Her feet lead her away from the building and towards the stables. She had never really gotten along with the Pegasi before. She could run a chariot, but only using the normal horses. She thought the Pegasi looked marvelous, but couldn't give herself the chance to try out a flight.
Who knows? Maybe today was the day for change. Change was good, right? Of course it was. She convinced herself of that once before and she could obviously do it again. It was already happening again. She walked through the barns, stopping to stroke a muzzle as the horse or Pegasi looked over their stall doors at her. She laughed as one nuzzled her face. Looking at he nameplate she rolled her eyes. "Of course the boy gives me the most attention. Right Napoleon. Just be glad you aren't human. Artemis would have your skin you silly boy." The piebald Pegasus nodded his head.
It seemed that it was laughing at her. She took a step back and tried to find the tack room. Upon seeing it, she walked over and grabbed a bridle and saddle. She knew how to put these on thanks to riding horses. "Well Napoleon. What do you say? Would you let a beginner Pegasi rider ride you? Can't be that different than a horse right?" She put herself in his stall and went through the appropriate procedures to tack up a horse. Once finished she stepped back to admire her work.
"Well don't you look like a strapping young lad!" Napoleon nickered in response and followed her as she lead him out. When she looked up into the sky, she loved how clear it was. Sure the sun was out, but she would have to tank Apollo later. After all, Artemis would probably want her to be able to see clearly as she attempted this. Climbing into the saddle, she made him walk for a little bit. She wanted to get used to the feel of the wings next to her. "Alright boy. I'm ready. Take me up." Napoleon turned to look at her, probably making sure. He seemed to find what he wanted because not two seconds later she felt him flex before he pumped his wings and they were in the air.
