Chase sat in the arts and crafts building. He had been here for the past couple days. Each day was the same. Then again, he was making a very expansive project. His hands were covered in dry clay as he continued to work. His shirt sleeves rolled up past his elbows. He almost looked like a baker. His arms were coated in the dust. A mini replica of the camp. And by replica, he meant it. There was everything. Cabins, forest, canoe lake, ocean, arena, forgery. The whole place. Everywhere that was inside the protective barrier.
It had taken him weeks. And missing lessons. But he didn't mind. He was getting bored of these lessons. So he spent his time here, challenging himself by his memory. He didn't know how he would put this in the kiln. Or how he would glaze it, but when that time came he would figure it out. All he had left to do was the cabins. And even those were pretty much done. Every cabin had every little nook and cranny in it. Even the Hermes cabin looked as if a tiny Bailey could walk through it. He hadn't built the inside of the cabins. That would be way too difficult and he didn't know what all the insides looked like.
He had the Athena cabin last. He wanted to save his own for last. And he had already been working on it for close to a day. He was scoring and slipping. Building and taking down. Adding and retracting. This was a complete replica shoved down to the size of on of those table maps. Everything was proportionate to the next. He almost had the urge to make little people. His friends in particular. Maybe him and Olivia. He smiled at the thought and gave a sigh. For being together, the two hadn't talked that much lately.
He wiped his hand across his face. He had been in here all day long. Ever since he woke up that morning. Hadn't gone to breakfast, wasn't hungry. And then didn't go to lunch because he didn't realize what time it was. His stomach was growling at him as he stood up to stretch. Just then little Timothy from his cabin came running in. The kid looked up to Chase. Always hung around him when Chase wasn't busy. This time he had brought a sandwich into his older brother. "Here Chase! I didn't see you at breakfast or lunch so figured you would be in here and hungry."
Chase smiled at the little boy and ruffled his head before taking the food. "Thanks Timothy. What have you been up to today?" They had a simple conversation. Timothy asking how much longer Chase had until he was done. Chase asking about things Timothy had done. They whole time they talked, Chase's back was to the mini replica. No one had really come into his corner so he assumed his project would be alright. But that comforting thought ended when he felt the board bump into him which toppled the leather hard, dry, and difficult Zeus cabin to the floor. Chase froze.
He blinked a couple times before noticing Timothy staring wide-eyed at the house that was now in pieces. "Even longer than I thought at the beginning." He gave a dry humorless laugh as he turned to face whoever had bumped into the table. His eyes caught sight of the dark hair and for a moment his heart leapt thinking it was Olivia. Until the girl turned around. It was definitely not her. He stared at her with a level stare wondering what she would say. Little Timothy peeked around Chase to see who it was as well.
