Natasha walked along the sandy pathways of Camp Half Blood as she made her way to who knows where. She had just gotten the news that her brother was going off on a quest to the Underworld to save his "friend." Great she thought. Even though she was a child of Hades, the Underworld made her uneasy. As soon as Mitch told her she didn't even give him a chance to say another word before she stormed out of the Hades cabin and was on her way to who knew where.

She wasn't sure where she was, nothing looked familiar, and she felt her vision clouding over until it wasn't safe to walk any further and just dropped down and lay on the floor starring at the bright sky. Almost mocking her sadness. Soon all of camp would be aware of the quest because there would be a meeting, even without a meeting the Aphrodite kids sure knew how to gossip. Her head was falling to one side, chest lifting rapidly up and back down from her heavy breathing. She took in her surroundings she was in the Strawberry Fields.

Natasha wasn't dumb she knew that demigods needed to go on quests and that some dream about leading their own, but she also knew that there was a 50/50 chance that they wouldn't make it back. To take her brother away from her? If she lost him, she didn't know what she would do. The thought to awful to even start thinking about. She wrapped her arms around herself almost wishing to squeeze the sad from her body. Natasha wasn't crying though, her mother raised her to be strong and not let anyone see her true emotions, emotions showed weakness and Natasha Pierce was NOT weak! She screamed in her thoughts as a tear threatened to fall from her eyes.

Despite the fact that it was bright and cheerful outside, Julie didn't particularly enjoy being surrounded by so many campers outside. However, she also didn't feel like being cooped up inside her cabin working on her chemistry projects, so she decided to take a visit to the strawberry fields and read her book about aphrodisiacs.

Perhaps you could grab a couple to take with you for experimentation?" the voice in her head recommended. She mentally nodded at the idea and smiled. When she reached the edge of the fields, she examined the plant. Was there really a chemical that reacted with those in the brain? Or was it simply wishful thinking that basic psychology was able to explain?

Juliyetta picked one of the berries and studied it. It was bright, like a perfectly ripe berry should be. Just as she was about to grab a few more, she saw a dark-haired girl. As she drew closer, she recognized the girl as Kavika's sister... Tasha, was her name. The girl looked as if she were ready to cry, but the tears never came. "Your brother?" she asked, not giving much of a warning that she was around. She glanced down at the girl, but turned her attention back to the strawberries. "What are you so worried about, Natasha?"

Time passed by slowly when one was sad. Only a few minutes had passed when it felt like hours she had been sitting in the Strawberry fields. She had taken to picking leaves off the ground which just shriveled to death, the ones that were moderately healthy that is. It was an unfortunate truth but Natasha being a child of Hades naturally attracts death. One of the many reasons why she didn't really hang out in the strawberry fields was because watching things die made her sad.

Not before she had the second leaf in her hand and it was shriveling into nothing that she noticed she wasn't alone. It was barely an introduction but certainly got her attention. "Your Brother?" were the words that made her look up in surprise. I guess news is spreading faster then I thought she thought to herself. She looked at the girl more closely to recognize her as Julie, daughter of Athena. She could tell by her stormy grey eyes. Every child of Athena had them.

She looked at her, trying really hard to cover up the sadness obvious on her face, she didn't think anyone would be by. "Yeah" she said simply nodding. Natasha picked up another leaf off the grounds and watched it shrivel up and die again. Julie spoke to Natasha but her gaze was on the strawberries, Natasha glanced around before answering "It's the quest he's going on!" she said calmly. "I know I shouldn't be so worried, demigods go on quests all the time." she added, her calmness now scaring her a bit. "It's just that...." she didn't want to say it "the most recent quests didn't end to well" she said suddenly very interested in a certain strawberry on the ground. "I'm just scared of losing my brother." she said sadly. "He's the only one I've got" she said quietly.

Juliyetta sighed and took a seat, cross-legged, next to Natasha. "Forgive me for getting technical, but you do have another brother. He just isn't very social," she reminded the girl, but shook her head. "However, that is not the issue. I do understand your concerns, Natasha, but you do have to understand it. If something were to happen to him, then it happened doing something noble."

She smiled at the daughter of Hades. "But I don't think that it is going to end up badly. There are many things that depend on probability. The direction that a straight pen would fall if it was left to stand on it's own, for instance. And then there is things that are dictated by choice and skill. You're brother is smart, and the Underworld is the best possible place for him to be sent to. Especially since the domain has the favor of your father. Surely that itself is a huge benefit that you consider."

Juliyetta reached out and patted Tasha's shoulder. "We on the council all consider these things before we approve a quest. And the gods only assign them if they feel that he is worthy and capable. Just look at all of the people, immortal and not that are trusting him with this? It must mean something to you."

Natasha sat there, stunned. She couldn't believe she just said that. With all the commotion with Mitch she had completely forgotten her other brother Kavika. He was newer to Camp Half Blood, newer then Natasha but not by much. Mitch and herself had arrived at Camp Half Blood around the same time, about three years ago and whereas Kavika arrived two years ago and they had plenty of time to bond Natasha found that she would always be just a little more closer to Mitch. They had started their training together and he had been her only company for a year, could you blame her?

Natasha looked into her lap "Oh right, sorry.. I just..." she stopped she could not even explain it. She took a deep breath how could she forget one of her brothers. She sighed as Julie went the logical way of looking at the situation. Well what do you expect from Athena's daughter? "I understand, it's just that I don't know what I would do if I lost him" she said softly looking up at Julie. "The people that do Noble things should not have to suffer!" she said looking angrily at a strawberry. Natasha looked up at Julie's smiling face. "Really?" she asked curiously "How can you tell?" she asked hoping that she would be right in the end.

Julie's hand was on Natasha's shoulder as she breathed deeply in and out. She had forgotten that Julie was the head of Athena's cabin which meant she was on the war council, Mitch was Hades representative so Natasha had to wait to find out about everything from him and the things he didn't tell her from around camp. "It means that he is the right choice for the quest, and I know he is, he is one of the smartest people I know....errr... besides you of course" she added hastily trying for a smile "I'm just letting my emotions get the better of me. It's selfish of me to want him to stay here. When someone else is in danger" she said sadly. Looking back into her lap she picked up another leaf off the ground and watched it shrivel up again. As a daughter of Hades she attracted death, so did Mitch. She just hoped it wouldn't be literally this time.

Juliyetta nodded. She understood Tasha. Natasha and Kavika probably weren't very close. She hardly remembered any of the names of her own siblings since she only talked to a few. It'd be even more difficult if she thought Uriel was in danger. Sadly, he was the closest of her friends in the cabin. She knew that her logic probably wasn't of much interest to Natasha. If it had been Kavika going on the mission without her, how would she have reacted? Even as a daughter of Athena, she would still have found it difficult to take the logical side of everything.

Juliyetta nodded in agreement. She did agree that nobility was a difficult thing to die for, but that was simply how things worked. Natasha seemed to be struck when she mentioned his chances of survival, and why wouldn't she?

"I have been on the same council as Mitch for a while, Tasha. He is a brilliant representative, intelligent, and an amazing delegate. Whether his mission requires intelligence or negotiation, he'll be fine. I haven't seen his fighting skills, but I assume that being a child of the big three, he must be brilliant. Yes?"

Julie shook her head. "Don't use a child of Athena as a comparison of intelligence and wit, Tasha. It's our sphere, just as earth and death are yours. Tasha, your brother is a very intelligent boy. And it's nothing to do with selfishness, either. It's love and compassion. You and your brother are very close. What you feel isn't selfish because it's not just for you. It's for him as well. You need to have faith in your brother."

Kavika and Natasha were siblings but they weren't besties. Although they weren't close like Natasha and Mitch were. She felt bad because she only has two brothers and she couldn't even keep tabs on one of her two brothers. Whereas the kids in the Aphrodite cabin have loads of siblings and probably remember each of their names and who each of them are dating that day. Natasha couldn't even keep track of two brothers. Well I guess the situation allows it she thought to herself, but doubted that it did.

Most of the Athena campers took logical sides to situation which is mainly why Natasha is a child of Hades, she tended to use emotions instead of logic. However the guilt just kept piling on as she realized that if the situation was reversed and Kavika was going into the Underworld, she wouldn't be as worried which made her feel worse.

She nodded, she knew Julie was on the council, she sometimes got information from the others in the war council when Mitch didn't want to tell Natasha about what they discussed in the meetings. "Yes he's the best person for the job I know, I just can't seem to want to let him go" she said, plucking another leave off the ground as it shriveled into ashes. "Even if he does survive which I'm not doubtful of. What if he can't save Katrina, he might stay there forever." she said trying to think of possible outcomes. "He loves her" she added calmly.

She nodded again "I do have faith in his skills , just not his brain when it comes to love." she said looking out across the strawberry fields. She saw Mitch with Katrina sometimes out and about the camp together, they acted as friends but Natasha knew better. Someone once said if there is any time to be selfish it's now. She took a deep breath as she continued to look out across the fields.

Julie didn't know exactly what it meant to choose love over logic. In fact, she barely even knew what it was like to have a crush on a guy, so she'd never had the experience of clouded decisions. It had never occurred to her how emotions might get in the way of logical thinking. Not that she didn't love her brothers and sisters, or her best friend, for that matter, but it simply wasn't her nature to be run by anything but intelligence and wisdom. In a crisis, it was her best skill. Level-headedness.

So it was a wonder why she couldn't quite understand how Natasha could continue to fret and worry, even after the facts had been placed out before her. What was so hard to understand about the situation? Son of Hades pays his father a visit to save the girl he loves. The end. Why couldn't Natasha understand?

Perhaps it was something that Julie wasn't meant to know. "Well, I honestly don't know what else I can say. I'm sorry that you're best friend and closest brother is going out on a quest. All we can do in the meantime is pray and sacrifice to the gods hoping that they'll help him on his way. I suppose sacrificing to your father might help lighten his spirits for when he makes it there?"

It was hard, having siblings that is. Sometimes they want to make you rip your hair out but then again sometimes they make you feel like you can't live without them. It was almost all the time flip flopping with Natasha. She was looking for answers. What to do with her brothers and what was best for herself, on how to deal with this. The children of Hades were famous for holding a grudge, she didn't even know how or why or who she was mad with but she felt anger. Maybe at herself. This was it.. she didn't know and felt alone, which is why she was considering joining the Hunters, maybe it was her answer. To join the hunters and leave camp forever, she could leave while Mitch is gone so he couldn't stop her because she knew he would.

What was she saying, no she couldn't join the hunters just because she felt lost and alone. That was how children of Hades should feel, their parent is the only god who isn't welcome on Olympus. She most likely got all of this from her dad... great. Julie was right she couldn't be like this anymore and had to move on from this slump. "You're right, everything that can be said has been said." she said looking at all the ashes on the ground from her leaf killing. Natasha smiled and chuckled a little "You don't know my dad" she said. "He's not really the loving type. That's why I'm so afraid. It's not in Hades nature to be forgiving" she said looking away. "I can just see something going wrong...." she started to say "Whatever...it doesn't matter" she ended up saying.

"I'm so glad he is going on this quest" she said obviously lying. Natasha closed her eyes. This can't be happening to me, this is just a dream. That's what she wanted for this all to be just one big long nightmare that she would wake up to in the morning, with her brother right there ready to give her the biggest bear hug to comfort her thoughts.

"Loving or not loving, all gods want sacrifices. He doesn't have to be loving to love, though. I may not know your father, but do you? Do you truly believe that he is as unloving as others say he is? And what do they know of your father that isn't just rumor? In fact, most of what we know about any of our parents is rumor unless we've met them ourselves. Have you met your father?" Juliyetta stared at Natasha, curiously. If she was wrong and Natasha did meet her father, she wouldn't be able to help being jealous, but if she didn't, then it was something to work with. Sure, it was said all around camp that he was cruel and unforgiving, but could he really be such a bad guy if he was willing to let a soul go just by hearing a good song? He couldn't be as terrible as everyone made him out to be.

"More than one person has escaped the Underworld alive. One of them was just a musician, nothing special. As for your brother, he's more than a guitar player. There is no doubt in my mind that he wouldn't be able to convince your father to let him go. Some of your siblings in the past have been able to go to and from the Underworld as they pleased. It wouldn't surprise me if you or your brother couldn't do the same."

What was she doing? Natasha Pierce..was whining. This was not her. Natasha was strong and emotionally stable. She refused to fall to the stereotype of Hades daughter. Children of Hades were always influenced by emotions, which made it hard to act rationally and logically, she was so thankful for Julie. The children of Athena were almost the opposite, choosing logic over emotions.Julie balanced her out. Natasha smiled faintly. "True enough" she said thinking of the gods and how she couldn't even think of the human equivalent to getting sacrifices...presents maybe? Julie began again about Hades and maybe the Lord of the Dead wasn't so bad. As more words poured out of her mouth, Natasha began twisting the emerald on the gold chain around her neck absent minded.

"Yeah I met him, Hades that is. My first night being claimed by him I was walking alone in the forest and he appeared to me. He taught me the basics of my powers: Shadow travel, raising gems and the dead..other stuff. I was happy to see him for once in my life but mad at the same time. I don't know, seeing him just seemed to bring back all the hate I've had towards him for so long, thinking he had abandoned my mother and I." Natasha said still the emerald twisted around on her finger. Natasha felt like a little girl, blubbering over something as so simply explained by Julie as explaining that ice melts in the summer. "Oh gods I feel so stupid" she said covering her face with both her hands. "I've never acted this way before! I don't know what is happening to me" she said into her hands. Everything is wrong...What's wrong with me?

First Natasha get's a migraine that could of killed her when Max died, she is having a harder time getting her shadow travel under control then Mitch did, and now this: her emotions were taking over her life. If Natasha didn't get all of these things under control soon, she was pretty sure it would kill her. How could she control it? She couldn't do it on her own either. Mitch was off on his own adventure no telling when he'd get back. That meant she needed to seek out one of her other siblings. Maybe Kavika could help her..She felt so lost. Her powers were consuming her. Maybe she just needed to get out of camp, go see her mom. Her mother would know what to do, she always did. It was settled tomorrow morning Natasha would set out into the mortal world and find her mom, no if's, and's or but's.
