Gianna Bree Kilaskwo had always wanted a horse. After all, wasn't it every little girls' dream to one day own a sleek, majestic steed? But, growing up New York City did the have disadvantage of space, or rather, a lack there of. Her family would have never been able to afford one anyway, but sometimes Bree would see the police horses on the streets or people riding through Central Park, and she would close her eyes and pretend that there was a chestnut stallion underneath her, carrying her away.
The second that Bree had arrived at camp, she had followed the scent of manure and tack to the Pegasus Stable. It was like every dream she had ever dreamt had come true. She spent most of her time here now, just enjoying the horses company. Sometimes she wished she had the skill of the Poseidon kids - they were so lucky to get to talk to these creatures.
So, it was to the barn that she was headed, her guitar across her back and an apple in each hand. Using her shoulder, she slid the stable door open and stepped into the cool building. She was greeted with various whinnies and huffs of air, each nose reaching over the stall door to investigate the newcomer and the apples in her hands. She smiled at each of them and made her way down a long corridor until she stood in front of a brown, white-spotted horse. His wings were tucked neatly underneath him and his ears perked when she approached.
"Hey, Hero!" she said fondly, holding the first apple out in her palm. The horses gobbled it up eagerly, puffing warm air into her hand. Bree pulled up a bale of hay next to the stall door and perched on it, swinging her guitar around and placing the other apple next to her.
"I got a new song," she said, plucking each string to make sure the guitar was tuned. Once she was satisfied, she began strumming a light and happy tune, punctuated with the occasional "ooh". She started to song, working through the lyrics easily, her hand strumming up and down on the strings. When she was done, she looked up at the horse.
"What did you think?" she asked, reaching next to her and grabbing the apple, raising it to her mouth to take a bite. The horse whinnied. She stood and held the remainder of the apple out for Hero to eat, and then sat back down and resumed playing.
