General Information
Full Name: Francis Joseph-Thomas Black Jr. Don't call him that though cause he'll kill you, Frank works fine for him.
Gender: Male.
Birthday: 13/5/1994.
Age: Eighteen.
Camp Experience: Two years.
Sexual Orientation: Heterosexual.
Claim Status: Indeed.
Divine Parent: Dionysus is his father, however he is also the legacy of Morpheus.
Looks
Hair:
His hair is a dark brown and is about medium length, so it's not too short. Frank doesn't tend to do much with it most of the time but if there's a special occasion then he'll slick it and style it. Usually these special occasions are when he needs to look presentable when he's out with his stepdad because of his job.
Eyes:
A dark brown almost black color. When you look into his eyes you can almost see yourself descend into your worst nightmare, as if he has untold horrors in his head. That wouldn't be far from the truth but he also gets it from his father Dionysus who can cause madness.
Height: 5"9.
Weight: 158lbs.
Picture: Click
Playby: James Franco.
Dressing Style:
Because of the lifestyle he lives he's constantly wearing suits and dress shirts. You wouldn't ever catch him wearing T-Shirts and so on, until Camp Half-Blood of course. But otherwise he tends to make himself look suave. For his age such attire isn't common but because of his stepdad's job and wealth he was forced since a young age to look smart.
At Camp Half-Blood he generally had trouble adjusting to the simplistic and casual attire. He felt common and in a way that made him feel guilty because he realized that because of his status he couldn't understand how everyday people could wear such things.
General Appearance:
Frank wouldn't consider himself the best looking in the world by a long chalk but he knows that he's good looking to some extent. Based upon looks he's had attention from girls but once they see his personality they tend to run away and reject him. It's caused him to lose confidence with that regard.
However, he's got an athletic build. He's not scrawny but he's not muscular and tough, he's that line in the middle. Other than his eyes there is no other real distinctive feature about him, he's average. Well that's what he believes anyway.
What Makes Them Them
Personality Description:
Francis Black is a nice guy at heart, he really is. However one of the notable things about him is that he has paranoid schizophrenia which means he can suffer from auditory hallucinations which means that he hears things that are not there. Many other symptoms include delusions (beliefs that are not real, meaning he can think people are plotting against him), anxiety, anger, detachment, aggression and violence and suicidal thoughts. So from time to time he can suffer from relapses and can suffer from any of these. It doesn't help when he also has ADHD and Dyslexia, so he's pretty impulsive and has a lack of concentration. He's constantly fidgeting with things too.
Other than that when he's his regular self he's quite introverted and quiet. A gentleman at heart so he's always there for girls and he's generally nonchalant and kind. Frank had been surrounded by a protective bubble for most of his life and once he arrived at Camp Half-Blood he realized how different people could be. He's pretty narrow minded so he doesn't easily understand other people. Generally if he has a problem with someone he'll just sit them down and talk through their differences but during a relapse he can be more aggressive and violent, it's given him dark memories. Nothing he's proud of.
As his condition would suggest Frank is paranoid, as such he tends to find it hard to trust others and he's reserved. But if he sees someone crying, whether he knows them or not, he'll try and comfort them. It was just how he was raised to be. He doesn't smoke or swear and he never will because of the mannerisms in which he was taught and although he's really polite and charming he can be judgmental. If someone is a user or a player for example he wont bother with them because they aren't worth his time.
Frank is a little shy around girls, more so when he has a crush on them. Due to the fact that any girl he thought he had a connection with had left him because of his relapses and outbursts. The only type of girl that Frank doesn't like at camp is Aphrodite girls. He finds them too fake and notices how they use men for their own personal entertainment. He can't stand it.
Making friends is equally as difficult for Frank. As a lot of people don't understand his life and personality he finds it hard to connect with people. Also it doesn't help that everyone at camp is so normal and he's quite wealthy.
Likes: Understanding people, wine, yachts, money, girls, smart attire, civilized people, making friends, normality, dinner parties.
Dislikes: Gossip, his relapses, Aphrodite kids, players, drug users, excessive swearers, bullies, when people are upset, fast food, how unfair life is.
Fears:
One of his fears is that during one of his relapses he'll do what he did again. He hated himself for it and he still feels guilty, however he just fears that he will lose control and strike out. Perhaps even against the ones he loves the most. Another is that he will endanger his family by being a demigod because they're easily traceable due to his family's status. Frank's third and final fear is that he might misuse his abilities to the point of being greedy, he realizes that his abilities aren't supposed to be flaunted and used for his own personal gain. After all with great power comes great responsibility.
Secrets:
His only secret is that he once killed a friend of his during one of his relapses. Frank dumped the body so that he was never found, however since then he has been filled with guilt and grief. He hadn't meant for it to happen.
Ambitions:
Frank wants to be able to use his powers for the greater good; to cure madness. It probably sounds silly, almost superhero-like, but to him it's just something he can give back to the world after all the damage he's done. Another one of his ambitions is to gain the approval of his father and stepfather, both being tough to connect to. Frank just wants to know that Dionysus can forgive him for all the bad stuff he has done.
Powers:
Being a demigod he has better reflexes than most, he can read ancient Greek and he's a natural survivor. As the son of Dionysus he's able to cause and cure madness as well as the ability to control vineplants, namely grapes. However as the legacy of Morpheus he has the ability to read minds. It happens spontaneously and is more of a curse than a blessing because it kicks in at the worst times, plus with his paranoid schizophrenia he sometimes can't tell whether he's hallucinating or whether it's just his power kicking in.
Family and History
Personal History:
Frank's story started when his mother - Victoria - was born as a child of Morpheus. Morpheus kids always have had weird powers so it came to no surprise that she was deemed an outcast throughout her early life. Surprisingly she came from a normal family, she wasn't always rich and successful. As every other demigod did she went to Camp Half-Blood after being sniffed out by a satyr, this was where she trained to become a hero. Despite this she always had bigger ambitions than to battle monsters, as selfish as it was she always had dreams of living in luxury, using her talents to become wealthy. One thing she'd always been interested in was acting. Since her youth she had been interested in movies and the whole concept of drama, although she hadn't originally perceived the dream as possible. After camp though she discovered that anything was possible.
Elsewhere Montgomery Black, a well known actor, decided to retire whilst his son - Francis Black - started his career. His career soon began to blossom and soon enough he was a household name; if you hadn't heard of the Blacks then you must have been living under a rock. Francis's brothers Joseph and Thomas had their own respective careers but neither of them was as successful as him. Francis took up an offer as acting as a Greek war hero in an up and coming film, this was where he met Victoria. The film was a perfect opportunity for her because of how close to home it was and after auditioning for it she received the role.
It was unreal that she was living her dream and on top of that, she hadn't got to worry about being some hero again. It just wasn't for her. After they finished working on the film they kept in touch and they got to know each other quickly. After a few months they realized that they was in love. The two got married and Victoria, who was once known as Icky Vicky, became Victoria Black. She had gone from having no status at all to having a high profile. Let's just say she enjoyed herself with all the money she had, going to various parties and drinking lots of fine wine.
That's where she bumped into Dionysus again. It was totally unexpected and a complete coincidence but they decided to crack jokes about camp whilst drinking. Victoria couldn't remember much of that night but she knew she had been unfaithful to Francis and she hoped nothing of it would come about again. Unfortunately she realized she was pregnant and she had to lead Francis to believe it was his so that he wouldn't find out and he didn't want to get rid of it, when the child was born he was named after his 'father' and his 'uncles.'
Frank was raised to be a proper gentleman; to use manners and be polite, not to argue with his elders etc. However despite this they picked up on the fact that he definitely had something up with him. He was impulsive and had trouble concentrating, in school he couldn't sit still and he couldn't stop himself from getting expelled time and time again. Okay, so he was polite and respectful but he had a bad temper and everyone accused him of trying to get attention. It wasn't the case at all although he was irritated that his 'father' never found the time for him and his mother was the only one who seemed to understand him. She knew almost instantly that he had ADHD and Dyslexia and when Frank's sister was born, Victoria knew that she had them too.
Frank and his sister seemed to understand each other. Both of them had the same conditions and both were treated equally by their father, in the sense that he hadn't got time for either of them. They were both unpredictable at times and their father constantly worried about them shaming the family name. Frank tried his best but he was under immense pressure as he would be the heir to the Black throne. He was expected to uphold the family name and become an actor himself. Despite all of this pressure though he never wanted to be an actor, it just wasn't his ambition.
Somehow, and nobody can still determine how, Frank had paranoid schizophrenia. It meant during relapses he became extremely paranoid and heard voices, even his mother who knew pretty much everything about being a demigod couldn't figure out what it was, so they took him to a psychologist. It was there that they diagnosed him and he was put on medication called Risperidone which was a antipsychotic. It did make him an unpredictable character to be around and he found it difficult to make friends at school.
One of the only instances when he did something bad was when he had a relapse one time and he started hearing voices telling him things. Frank started to form a plot in his mind that one of his friends was a spy sent from the government to keep an eye on him, in a fit of rage he confronted said friend and in a turn of events he grabbed a kitchen knife and stabbed him. Frank dumped the body and when his mind cleared for a while he realized what he had done and he was filled with guilt.
When he turned sixteen Frank's mother took him and his sister to Camp Half-Blood where they learned about the Greek gods and how they were demigods. It didn't take long for Dionysus to claim Frank as his own and his sister was recognized as a legacy of Morpheus. At first it was so surreal but after some time he adjusted to it, although he still has problems making friends with fellow campers.
Frank's main goal is to redeem himself in Dionysus's eyes because he knows that Frank has killed a mortal in the past and is disappointed with him in that sense.
