It has been eight hundred years since the end of the ninth pass, since the days when thread fell on Pern for the final time. The era of the glorious rider and dragon has been and gone, slowly drifting away into the stuff of myth and legend.
For the average Pernese, the Dragonkin -- unintelligent, horse like beasts -- and the Ferals -- massive monsters which prey on herdbeast and human like -- are the closest they will ever know to a true dragon. Dragons as they once were -- powerful intelligent beasts, beings of air and fire and bonded in a lifelong, soul deep pairing with a human rider -- are no more.
Or so everyone thinks.
Hidden deep in the jungles of the western continent, is Sanctuary Weyr. Here, the very last of the dragon riders live, keeping the old ways alive. What was once a long forgotten backup plan now teams with life as the riders, their former Weyr devastated by an earthquake, work to make this warm jungle area their home.
Much has been lost.
There is much to learn.
High in the sky, a red star glows.
Do you have what it takes to protect Pern from itself?
Sanctuary is a recently opened non-canon Weyr, set post 9th Pass. We have an active and friendly staff as well as active and friendly members. We welcome people of all types, including those new to Pern and those new to roleplaying in general.
- We have many ranking positions open for creation
- There are many dragon colours available for creation - including Bronzes and our non-canon Silvers, Reds, Bones and Opals
- Firelizards, and the non-canon Swiftlizard, are both open for pre-creation
- The elderly Gold Kyth, the sole remaining Gold, looks to be setting up for a flight. This flight will determine the leadership of the Weyr.
- Several of the younger females also look to be getting ready to rise for their maiden flight. It's a race to see who will rise first: Kyth or one of the young reds or clutching greens.
- Egg Search - The beaches near the Weyr look like good places to seek out firelizard eggs and an event is being organised to look for them.
