Before she had pulled herself completely from her dreams, the princess—she never could quite get used to be being called queen—realized the moon (lunar bastard that it was) had deigned it time to gift her with its monthly offering of fertility and a bloody mess. With a sigh barely distinguishable from any other breath, she rolled to her left and wrapped an arm around the form next to her, wanting to hold on to as much time with the silent boy as she could before her husband decreed they must attempt to conceive an heir. Vaguely she could recall the days when she looked forward to having children, when she was just out of her walking years and carried around a small doll made of silk and velvet that she had lovingly named Boopy. She had done everything with Boopy that she saw her mother do with her younger brother; hold her when she was calm, demand the scullery maid take her and coo to her when she threw “fits”, she had even tried several times to get the milk-nurse to feed the doll.
And if I’m honest Clara admitted to her subconscious, I have no objections to having a child now. I’m sure I would fare well as a mother…except… except that there were some minor differences between wanting a child and wanting to conceive a child with the husband fate and political advantage had chosen for her. It wasn’t that he was portly and ugly; the King was in prime shape for a male his age and a countenance that would have many peasant girls squealing had they ever the chance to see it, nor was it the many affairs he carried out, that was only to be expected of royalty and the relationship between him and the court magician was known throughout most of the kingdoms—it was simply that no twelve year old male should be so determined to conceive an heir in a land where the average life expectancy was at least 54 and when he knew damn well that no one with the intelligence to pull off a successful assassination would make an attempt to do so. Publicly he had announced this was to assure the true union of peace between Terxin and Droxek by having the blood of both royalties running through the future ruler of his nation, as well as to assure that if anything did happen to his person, as was sometimes the unfortunate case for monarchs, the bloodline would be assured. Knowing her husband as only a sixteen year old girl can, she privately assumed it was so he could get the whole bloodline affair taken care of as quickly as possible so he could concentrate on more pressing matters in his kingdom and only be faced with his queen’s countenance on formal occasions and supper.

What Makes Them Them
Personality Description:
It's easy to dismiss Kiet as a pleasant, if not too bright, boy. He strives to be polite and friendly to everyone he comes across. If he doesn't like someone, he keeps it to himself and simply tries to avoid that person as much as possible without being rude. He hates confrontation and verbal conflict, usually trying to find a way to duck out of the conversation if possible if it starts to get heated. He can do fine in a city surrounded by people, but he gets nervous when there are more than 4 people in a group, especially if the attention is on him. He won't freak out or run away or anything like that, he'll suffer through, it simply makes him uneasy.
His life's been rather sheltered, and while he's interacted with the monks and various other people in the organization, he's rarely interacted on a social level with other people or other children. It was never needed of him, so it was discouraged even when the opportunity may have presented itself. As such, while he's not completely hopeless, there are times when it seems he's a few colors short of a crayon box. Still, he's an eager and quick learner determined to fit in to his new environment.
The effects of his upbringing on his 'civilian' personality manifest themselves subtly. Any empathy he appears to have is a learned facade, a dissonant mimicry of what a true empathetic reaction would be. If you're sick, he'll never tell you to 'feel better'. If he wants your approval for whatever reason, though, he'll bring you soup or the like. If you're crying, he may remember to ask why, or he may talk as though you looked like everything was fine. Most people he sees through the view of 'how do they effect me' and reacts accordingly when the results matter. So while he may smile and laugh with someone at lunch, if he sees that person getting bullied he's unlikely to step in unless that person's approval of him is likely to lead to gain. He doesn't do this out of malice, but a genuine misunderstanding of normal human behavior.
Kiet has a deeply ingrained fear of punishment, and as such is very obedient to anyone he considers in a position above him. He follows rules as best he can, and doesn't question orders given. The suggestion of breaking any rules or any act of rebellion is enough to get him nervous and sweating.
Kiet has dependency issues, of a sort. He had latched onto one of his handlers at the temple as his important person. The monk, Niran, was the only person Kiet truly saw as a person besides himself, and he loved Niran more than he loved himself. All the empathy he is unable to feel for others was focused on Niran, who'd he do anything for. Once he arrived at Camp Halfblood and broke away from the organization he let Niran fade from his mind like anything else from his past, but it's likely he will eventually find another object of his unhealthy attention.
Kiet lives in the present, constantly evaluating his situation and how best to adapt and survive. Though he looks towards the future, he only plans as far ahead as his decision right now will effect him soon, such as disobedience and punishment. Once he was sent to Camp, any loyalty or emotions he may have felt for the organization were gone, as it had been replaced by the Camp as far as he was concerned.
Kiet's also a killer, and when he's on a mission, his demeanor changes. He turns cold, uncompromising, he's aggressive and if one said he was sadistic they'd be completely right. If time is of the essence he'll do a simple one hit take out, but if there's time to spare, he enjoys seeing his targets suffer physically, but more importantly mentally. He likes to make them experience fear before they're gone with the help of his illusions.
Once the task is done, he'll slip back into his civilian personality seamlessly, as though the kill had never happened at all.

Family and History
Personal History:
Akkarat Ngong was a Thai businessman with the ability to see through the mist and a proficiency (as far as mortals go) for magic. It wasn't much, the barest wisp really, but it was enough for a clever man to manipulate to his benefit. An omen to his boss favoring himself for a raise, a second of hesitation in a rival that cost a loss of confidence, little things that helped him rise in the ranks. He was living the good life when he went on a business trip to New York, ready to work his magic in the most literal sense.
It wasn't just his magic proficiency alone that attracted Hecate- he possessed more than the average mortal but just barely- it was the clever way he used it. The subtle manipulation seemed an art form to the goddess of magic, and Akkarat was delighted to be courted by such a mighty woman. She would visit him frequently in Thailand, and for a while things seemed happy. But on her last visit. instead of bringing joy, she brought two baby boys and a kiss goodbye. Akkarat, heart broken, made a rash decision to give her children away so he wouldn't have to be reminded of Hecate. Of all the things he could have done with two unwanted infants in Thailand, admittedly, giving the boys to a kindly monk who offered to take them to the monastery was not the worst thing. But corruption finds its way into many places, and this monastery was, sadly, no exception. Among the seedy things its members did, training boys to fight in sponsored Muay Thai tournaments was not all that bad, and generated some great income on the side.
Trouble began when the boys were four. While his brother seemed a normal enough child, Kiet was already showing signs of his gifts. Little images of dancing flowers would appear around him as the toddler clapped in delight, or he'd scare himself and the other boys by accidentally conjuring the image of a closet monster into their room late at night. The leads of the crime organization recognized the potential for a greater tool, and took Kiet away for a private upbringing when he was five years old to live in the house of a man known to Kiet only as Boss.
A new set of men, some monks and some just run of the mill criminals, began to train Kiet in a much stricter regiment than he had become accustomed to at the monastery. Morning to night he was kept busy- still learning Muay Thai but also learning how to control his powers for the good of the gang. He cried profusely at first, and every time he cried he was punished. Sometimes the punishment would be something as simple as a beating, but the Boss' preferred punishment was holding Kiet's head under water. If he felt Kiet's transgression was particularly serious, he'd electrocute or burn the boy. The slightest slip up was cause for punishment so that even when Kiet was physically and magically capable of turning on them, he would never mentally be capable of it. Kiet quickly learned to keep his tears locked inside and his head down. As illusions were the first powered he showed and no reason to think there was more, illusions were the power Kiet learned to harness into an art. For his boxing, it was useful to throw off his opponent. For his other uses, it was useful to have someone who could be invisible. Someone who could create false targets to distract rivals and someone who could create distractions when needed. As he grew older, Kiet was sent on missions, sometimes with a team and sometimes alone, and steadily his 'family' grew to control more and more of southern Thailand and the international routes therein. He was sent abroad, always with a handler to make sure things went well and to keep Kiet in line. Most of his handlers were rough, cold men, but there was one who had formed a bond with Kiet- the monk Niran. Niran was the one who would smile at him, the one who would sometimes sneak him chocolate. Niran was the only one who apologized before laying the lash across Kiet's back when Kiet failed or messed up. Between these missions, Kiet still didn't get a break, he was back in the tournaments. Sometimes he would compete against his brother, but he'd never speak to him for fear of getting punished. Anytime Kiet lost a tournament, he'd be punished as well. Being anything less than pleasant and happy in the Boss' present was also frowned upon, so Kiet took that personality to the very heart of his being, trying his best to please the Boss and his handlers.
Everything changed on a mission to New York. Kiet was to retrieve some sensitive information from an American crime family, and Niran was along to make sure everything went well. Unfortunately for Kiet, the woman he was sent to steal from was also a child of Hecate and could sense the magic being used. She cast a paralysis spell on him to stop him, and a truth spell to find out what he was doing there. After the interrogation, she made a few brief phone calls before taking him to Camp Halfblood. He never asked what happened to Niran, he was well aware of the monk's fate. Caught between two fears, the fear of punishment should he be discovered hiding by the Boss and the fear of punishment should he return a failure, Kiet decided it was a smarter move to stay at Camp Halfblood and start a new life here. Still, he often finds himself looking over his shoulder in fear of seeing one of his old handlers.
