General Information

Gender: Female
Birthday: April 9th, 1996
Age: Sixteen
Camp Experience: Four years.
Sexual Orientation: Straight
Claim Status: Yes.
Divine Parent: Persephone.
Looks
Hair:
McKenna got her hair from her mother – it's gorgeous. It's a deep brown, so dark that it's easily mistaken for black, and thick enough without any prodding that she's been told she's gotten the blessings of Aphrodite – she doesn't think so. When left untamed, her hair is a wavy mess that falls to her shoulder blades. After messing with it for a while, she can get it straightened into shape. She's usually wearing a flower in her hair. If she's wearing a beanie or a hat of any kind, it either means that she's freezing or that she just didn't want to mess with her hair.
Eyes:
Her eyes are also so brown that they could be black – she hates them. They're rather slanted, sometimes making her appear slightly asian when she's tired and droopy eyed. She was made to wear glasses when she was a child, as they believed that her dyslexia was an inability to read the letters - the result is that she sometimes has to wear glasses when her eyes are strained. She carries them around in her backpack.
Height: 5 feet and 8 inches
Weight: 121 lbs.

Playby: Nina Dobrev
Dressing Style:
McKenna has two distinct styles; one, chic, and two, comfy. She's a fan of skirts and heels, but at the same time, she's not an idiot. She won't wear heels to the arena, she won't wear tennis shoes to some formal event. She tries not to be flashy, but sometimes her mind gets the better of her. That's not to say that she's always immaculate - sometimes, she just can't be made to give a hellhound's mess. In those occasions, she dresses however the Tartarus she wants and is generally either in a terrible mood or a rush.
General Appearance:
Mckenna is a very confident young woman when it comes to herself – you can tell when she walks. She has no reservations when she makes an appearance. She's comfortable in her body, and she wears clothing that shows just how comfortable she is. She's also prone to all manner of colors and styles. When it comes to interacting with other people, though, females especially, she's far more reserved, almost like she's afraid of what might be said against her.
What Makes Them Them
Personality Description:
When McKenna first came to camp, she was a volatile mixture of raw emotion that resulted in a mass of hurt feelings and angry people. She was scathingly sarcastic, mean, and overall just a terrible person. Having just literally watched her whole family die and spent two weeks nearly starving in the Underworld, she hated people as a whole. That anger and rage slowly gave way to a deep depression, a phase in which she spent about a four months refusing to speak to anyone or do anything. She literally had to be slapped out of that by one of the older Minor God Cabin members – literally. It was only then that she realized that this place was going to be her home for the next unknown number of years… And it was then that she started being tolerable to live with; kinda like a cat that's been kicked one too many times.
Newly under that realization, she started trying to undo the damage she’d done. Some of it was unfixable. She’s still rather sarcastic, though she’s much better about it now. She’s mainly quiet, keeps to herself. Her mouth often gets her into trouble, and she seems to avoid the forges at all costs. Someone says something funny to her, she'll get an odd look on her face, like she's trying not to laugh. She has, in the past two years, made a few close friends, and despite the fact that her reputation precedes her, she's known to help out the Apollo kids with the infirmary and the Demeter/Dionysus kids with the fields. She's very much trying to find her place in life, and so far, she's found nothing.

Powers:
- minor chlorokinesis;
extremely minor unless the plant is poisonous, then she has a certain degree of control over it. She can mainly make them grow at an extreme speed, though when she's upset, there have been records of explosions of poison ivy sprouting from nowhere. For non poisonous plants, she can basically just 'feel' them - almost like another sense. This is mainly because her mother is technically the Goddess of Spring and all that jazz.- Poisonous blood;
Her blood, as is obvious, is poisonous to a degree that it's nearly acidic. It can cause minor skin irritation, even to her own skin. It's basically harmless, unless you get it in your eyes or decide to drink it, in which case, you're a freak. In any case, it would make a person dizzy after about a cup of drinking it, and cause hallucinations if that was doubled. In order to actually kill someone, they would have to drain every drop of blood from her body - watch out, vampires.- immunity to impurities;
Kenna has never been sick. She cannot be poisoned, either. She can breath in smoke just like air, and none of it can harm her. She is, as her father wished, immune to the impurities of the world. This does, unfortunately, mean that her immune system sucks. If she ever eats anything that's even slightly bad, she starts throwing up. Thankfully, it's never been a problem while at camp. Vice versa. if someone near her has been poisoned, she can tell, and if it's a weak poison, she can work it out of the blood through an open wound. She can also detect poison in food or drinks.
Family and History
Personal History:
James Valerian and Charlene Lee had a very unusual courtship – she was a girl from a small town in Texas, and he was the only son of their town’s richest family. No one expected them to hit it off at all. She was crude where he was cultured, she was loud where he was mild-mannered. They completed high school together, maintaining a distant friendship. They ended up going to the same university, where the sheer fact that they knew each other's names made them friends. They'd later say alternating things about how they 'got together.' He'd claim he asked her out, she'd say she dragged him to a bar. Needless to say, they started dating in their second year of university,
He became one of Pennsylvania's top botanists, while she became, eerily enough, a mortician. They got married four years after they started dating, to the date, and that was rather when the troubles began. In rural Pennsylvania, nothing spreads faster than rumors. So when a new man came to town and applied to be Carly's assistant, the rumors started flying immediatley. Of course, James, believing that she'd be ever faithful, put no stock in them. Not until the man vanished without a trace and his wife informed him, very stiffly, that she was pregnant. Needless to say, chaos happened.
A few months later, they made up to a certain extent, and agreed to try to work through it. He continually shook his head at her statement that the man had been Hades, the Greek God of Death, though he refused to call her a liar. It was two days before Carly's due date - a dark and painful time for James - that he met the woman. He will continue to call her the woman for the rest of his life, because really, what can a mortal man call a goddess but 'the woman?' Needless to say, Persephone took advantage of the darkness in his soul and gave him a child. His words to her, heartbroken in his living room while his pregnant wife slept on upstairs, were: "If I ever have a child of my own, I would wish it to be immune to the poisons of this world." Persephone's reply: "And she will be."
Carly went into labor shortly after Persephone left the house, and thirteen painful hours later, Jonathan Valerian was born. Less than three minutes after his birth, Persephone walked into the room with McKenna, depositing her into her father's arms, cooing at Jonathan, and after waving her hand and making the statement that "They'd be in touch," she was gone. Carly was the opposite of angry - she was ecstatic. Not only did her husband believe her now, but she had a daughter and James could no longer be angry with her for being unfaithful, because he had felt the pull as well. McKenna and Jonathan could easily have passed for twins, and to anyone outside of their family, they were twins indeed.
Despite their rather interesting introductions, Jonathan and McKenna were like two peas in a pod. Jonathan used his Hades-gifted powers to manage all sorts of chaos in their rather large home, and McKenna used hers to grow flowers. Her father, ever the botanist, started analyzing the blooms on her plants, only to discover that all of them were highly toxic. When the 'twins' were four, their younger brother was born, and the pair of them made a pact that he'd never get hurt as long as they were around. They loved their little brother more than anything.
The three of them were homeschooled by their father until Carly got a job offer in Houston - the twins were ten to Landon's six. All three of the kids were excited to get into public school. It was then, however, that the trouble started.Jonathan and McKenna were both ADHD and dyslexic – they had a very, very difficult time concentrating and reading. McKenna struggled and was moved down a grade, as was Jonathan, and the two found themselves in the same class. The first time McKenna heard someone taunting her brother, she couldn't control herself – she gave that boy the worst case of poison ivy that the city of Houston had ever seen. That was the first day her father spanked her, the first time she muttered her 'defend your own' motto. She'd protect her brother, always, and he'd protect her. And together, they could protect Landon.
They struggled through public schooling at a total of three schools before the bombings. The highrise apartment building that the family occupied was hit by a series of powerful bombs the summer of McKenna's twelfth year. Her parents were on the floor with the gym; they were killed instantly with the first explosion, because that's where the bomb went off. A total of twenty seven more bombs went off, setting the building ablaze and crumbling.
The smoke was thick in the air – both Jonathan and Landon were coughing like crazy. McKenna, however, was immune to the impurities in the air, as she always had been. She'd never been sick in her life, because it wasn't just literal poisons that she was immune to, it was all impurities that entered her body. Jonathan, twelve at the time and having spent a summer at Camp Half-Blood due to the fact that monsters were after him constantly, dared to leave their crumbling apartment and see if they could get out. It was blocked, but that didn't stop him from trying to dig his way out and instead allowing something into their little safe haven. The Leukrokotta had been trying to take advantage of the chaos to snuff out the 'Children of the Underworld,' as it put it. Jonathan tried to fight it off, but the creature called out to McKenna in his voice after pinning him, telling her it was safe and he'd found a way out.
Of course, she emerged, carrying their gasping for breath younger brother. Upon seeing the creature, she screamed, and upon understanding what had happened, she half dropped, half set their brother down and threw herself at the monster, trying to get her brother (and their only defense) free. It didn't do much, just set the creature staggering, but it was enough for Jonathan to get loose and to grab Landon and get a hold on McKenna's arm and shadow-travel. He didn't have time to choose a destination – the creature had injured him terribly, he was bleeding everywhere, his chest half collapsed from the creature's jaws, The trio ended up in the throne room of the Underworld, McKenna sobbing over her dying brothers. Jonathan died before Hades could even rise from his chair.
Landon wasn't doing too well either. The twelve year old girl begged her mother and (technically) step-father to save him, but they said that they couldn't, that his mortal life had run it's course. She screamed out her pleas, but Persephone just looked away and Hades stared at them. Landon died, agonizing minutes later, of smoke inhalation.
So McKenna had lost everything she had in just a few short minutes, in a blur of explosions and monsters. She sat there, holding her brothers' hands, for nearly twenty four hours straight before Hades made her release them so that they could be buried properly. He sighed deeply and closed his son's eyes before taking Landon as well, at least giving her the comfort that they weren't dragged away by monsters. She remained there for the rest of the summer, refusing to eat – she was upset and alone, but not so much that she'd not learn from her mother's story. She very nearly starved to death that summer.
At the end of the summer, to everyone's relief, Hades sent McKenna to Camp Half Blood, where being suddenly forced to deal with other people caused her to quickly gain a reputation as a mysterious, rude, hateful stranger. She was claimed by her mother the first night she was there, at dinner. She managed to secure herself a bed next to a window in the Minor Gods cabin, where she's resided ever since, her little garden just outside of it. She's grown significantly as a person in the past four years - she's almost forgiven her mother and step-father for not saving them. Almost.

And Finally...
I, Jeri, have made this entirely up. I did not rip somebody else’s application from any site, and have followed the rules accordingly.
And…? Yes.
