Nick loved performing for people. It brought him back to the days he and his dad would perform on the streets in New York Square or Madison Gardens. They would laugh at how much fun they would have. He remembered when his dad promised $100 to someone if they figured out the trick to the magic trick that his dad was doing. Well, that was the magic trick he was going to perform for those sitting in the Mess Hall right now. He glanced down at Houdini who had patiently been laying down next to him throughout all his card tricks. 

Some would say that it was only thanks to his legacy that he was able to perform like this. But it wasn't true. Just because he got some magic from his legacy being Hecate, didn't mean it all came from her. But he couldn't say that out loud. She might now feel too appreciated about that. When he felt his masters gaze on him, the German Shepard looked up at the boy. Nick laughed as he saw the dog's tongue loll out the side of his mouth as his lips pulled back. Almost like Houdini was smiling at him. 

"Well go get a spoon boy!" At the words of his owner, Houdini jumped up and walked over to the nearest table and picked up an unused spoon before trotting back to Nick, wagging his tail. "Now. As you all have seen, my furry assistant here, has just picked up a spoon at random. See how normal it is?" He took the spoon from Houdini and tried to bend it with his two hands. But of course, it didn't bend. He also tapped it on the nearest table to show he wasn't faking the not being able to bend it. He showed it to everyone before speaking again. 

"Now. If anyone can tell me how I do this next trick, I will be your slave for the rest of the day. With limitations of course." He gave a boyish filled grin before holding up the spoon in eye level. "Watch carefully, and move in closer if you must, as I bend this spoon with my mind."

[/b] He moved his other hand to the side and focused really hard on the spoon. His one hand holding it up so people could see as the handle started bending. His other close to his head, fingers splayed, like even that was concentrating. 

Slowly the spoon started to bend and then he bent all the way. He moved both his hands a moment before showing the fully bent spoon whose handle was now at a 90 degree angle. He smiled as some people clapped. He continued to hold it up a moment later. And was about to put it down when someone spoke.

Every bit of open skin on Michael was covered in some kind of black mark or burn. Not that he could feel most of it, or he even cared. His hair was a mess and his clothes were smoking even though the black ‘Keep Calm and Don’t Blink’ shirt and black cargo pants looked untouched. Of course this was what usually happened when he got out of the forge. He didn’t look bad in anyway and for some reason he kind of actually enjoyed this look. To him it almost seemed like he had basically been forging his swords INSIDE the fires, which was cool to think about, if not impractical. Best part of it all though was he was walking up on the Mess hall. So many, especially the Aphrodite kids, would be freaking out. Yet to him he saw no issues. His food would be around him and to be honest most of the Heph kids looked like he currently did 24/7. He had every intention to show these people he didn’t give a rats ass what they thought about him. Aren’t you supposed to be making friends?It wasn’t that he wasn’t a clean person, it was more that he was hungry and had just got back from working…so if people cared they could go get bent for all he cared.

After acouple of minutes mulling this all over in his mind Michael started to realize he had already walked to his table and sat down. This wasn’t exactly a surprise to him since he was such a quiet guy most days from being so distracted with his inner monologue and own thoughts. Again though….wasnt he trying to make more friends? What kind of friends could a chaotic guy like him attract? Who would be willing to put up with him? His eyes scanned the room, taking in each table and they’re occupants. The Ares kids were war like and loved to fight, something he liked to learn and train well enough in. Hell his dad had given him the Armor of Achilles and knew that his son would use it well. Yet there was the other side of Ares he didn’t like. Bullies who were full of themselves and lusted for blood above all else….yeah not his style. Aphrodite was to full of themselves…well some of them were, and the rest…..hmmm the rest.

After some thought Michael heard what sounded like someone trying to get everyone’s attention over by the Demeter table. What his eyes met made him slightly amused. The kid was showing off a magic trick with a spoon that bent without him touching it. He had seen the trick before of course but never knew the mechanics of it. Presumably it had to do something with a chemical imbalance with the spoon and something the person was holding in the hand that was “psychically” bending the spoon. However then there were those rare occasions….. Nah not a chance.

“Hey kid, you got a burner in that hand of yours or are you a kid of Hecate?” Michael called out. He wasn’t being a dick, and to be honest the fact that he had even spoke a full sentence in a crowded place surprised even him. Of course he was neck deep now and no way out.

Nick smiled as someone spoke out. His dog sat next to him looking towards the young man who had spoken out. But he shook his head. Those were the two most obvious answers. And of course what he did wasn't obvious. Well, not unless you looked at the picture. "No lighters or anything that can heat the metal to bend it. And although I am a legacy of Hecate, I did not use my powers to do this trick."

No one else decided to speak up though. "Well. If anyone ever figures it out, you have until the end of the day to tell me. Not like I would tell you. After all, a magician never reveals his secrets." He gave a wink and bowed as a couple people clapped their hands. Sure, most came from his own table and a couple Hecate kids. But still. At least they did clap. For a little final thing, he through a pebble down on the ground. Just like that, smoke billowed around him and Houdini. Within a couple seconds the smoke cleared and he wasn't there.

But he reappeared next to the guy that had spoken out. He sat down next to him, ignoring the couple stares that were passed at him. He was a young kid. He didn't know better. He laughed inside his head to himself. Houdini laid down behind him on the floor. Nick held out his hand for the other man to shake. "Thanks for speaking out. Some people don't like to be proven wrong and so they won't speak. But it's really helpful when the audience actually reacts."

He would know that. He and his dad had had times when the crowd didn't react at all. That made the performing not fun at all. "Who are you by the way? I don't think I've seen you around too often. I mean, obviously you are a Hephaestus kid or else you wouldn't be sitting here." Well minus him or course. And if they were anywhere else he probably would've shown off his powers a little bit. But right now, that wouldn't be appropriate.

Then again, he was sitting at their table which wasn't good either. But whatever. He had already eaten, so it wasn't like he was coming here to eat. He was just here to chat.
