Fear bubbled up inside of him as he stared up at the climbing wall. At the moment it looked harmless, like a normal 100ft climbing wall. But he knew that this certain climbing wall was far different from most. This one spewed lava and shook, trying to throw off any unsuspecting demi-god who was that unfortunate to be on the lump of rock. On the outside, Jason looked stoic, not letting his inside emotions reach his face or eyes. He couldn't, the teen had a slight reputation to withhold. Rubbing his hands together and jumping from one foot to the other, the teen tried a little warm up, including swinging his arms. The brunette boy had been on this climbing wall seemingly thousands of times. He knew the little hidden secrets it held. However, this time was different, he'd do it with no harness. Which would mean increased difficulty.
Jumping up, adrenaline pumping, he placed his hands in the first crevasses on the rock and hoisted himself up, placing his feet and hands where they'd go. Jason couldn't deny, he was petrified and did something he should not have done at his current height. He looked down. The rock started to tremble, trying to shake the teen off. Jason's hand slipped and he was left gripping onto the threshold, supporting his body with only one hand. Panic showed in his eyes for a second, before using the shaking of the rock to pivot his hand back into it's previous position. Carrying on up, he started to count down.
"3... 2... 1..."
A small patch of his white polo shirt started smoking and the slight smell of burning reached his nose. The lava had started spewing from the top of the climbing wall. He'd always think that was very dangerous, but it was Camp Half-Blood, what'd he expect?
Looking down he could see a scarlet dot that was his sister looking up at him, and he didn't want to let her down, or his father. For all Jason knew, he could be watching from his place in the Big House. It was then that Jason realised what a stupid idea this was, going up without a harness on, but he had to do it, just incase something popped up.
Sooner or later, placing his feet and hands in the correct places, he reached the top. The teen could see the whole camp from up here! The satyrs in the strawberry fields, the big house, the woods, just about everything! He sat at the top for a few minutes, since the lava and the ricocheting had stopped. He watched the sun begin to set behind the woods. He felt completely relaxed, the smell of setting rock stuck in the air.
All of a sudden, the climbing wall began to rock again, sending him falling of backwards, hitting his head a few times off the rock. He had a few seconds to grab ahold of something. Flailing in the air, blindly reaching out, fingers desperately scraping the rock he somehow managed to grab hold of a jutting part of the rock. Angry, he slowly lowered himself down to the floor.
