Tragedy why are you my clarity?

As Mr. D finished his speech of not to hurt people and all the rules of the carnival, Natasha took off towards some booths, looking around everywhere. All the booths looked so good and well thought out. She thought the Hades cabin booth turned out pretty well, she had helped Mitch, Kavika, Ageha and Vlad work on their booth and it looked fantastic, she swung by it in passing to make sure it still looked as good as when she left it, it did. Each child of Hades was taking turns manning the station. Vlad was in charge for the first shift and Natasha's wasn't until later so she took it upon herself to check out some of the other booths. Natasha decided to leave the Dionysus cabin till the end since it was so far away from the others.

The Hermes cabin? No. It did look great and everything however their eyes and the way they were smiling looked shady and she decided not to go over there yet. Typical Hermes kids always fooling around, she didn't mind though. Natasha loved a good practical joke as much as the next demigod, she had even helped plan some with the Hermes campers in her first week, the week she spent crammed in the Hermes cabin.

What was next, the Hunters of Artemis. Looking around quickly to make sure Mitch was no where in sight, she made her way over. Natasha knew that if he found her there that he would kill her. Although it wasn't really advertised around camp or even her cabin, in fact no one knew this but she was considering becoming a huntress. Maybe it was the answer she was looking for, maybe immortality and a band of other girls was the answer. She had no idea. Natasha reached the table and looked again behind her, checking for her brother again before turning to the table and greeting the huntress manning the station. She took a leaflet and an arrow and stuck the arrow in her back pocket as she read on about Immortality and the advantages in becoming one of the great Huntresses of Artemis.

As far as Mia was concerned, their booth was a total success. The carnival had just started, yet they had already received a couple of girls who had looked interested. At the very least, they flipped through the brochures and took an arrow, which was better than nothing. She supposed the free arrows were the main attraction, but there had to be at least one person who was seriously interested in joining, right? Who didn't want immortality?

Mia grinned as another girl approached the booth. However, she seemed to be a bit hesitant, glancing around as if she were embarrassed to be seen at the Artemis booth. Well, that certainly wouldn't do. Of course, it wasn't the girl's fault. No, her embarrassment was probably due to the Aphrodite cabin and their penchant for spreading vicious rumors about the Hunters. If the girl ever joined, she'd learn to get used to it. Everyone did.

That was if she joined... First, Mia had to make sure she signed up. Putting on her most cheerful voice, Mia greeted the girl. "Hello! I'm Mia, daughter of Apollo, huntress for seven years. Let me know if you have any questions." She paused before smiling winsomely and adding, "I like your necklace." If they were going to bribe people with arrows, why not go the extra step and flatter them as well?

Natasha smiled at the Huntress who introduced herself as Mia. She was kind of small, like she was 13 or 14. She couldn't imagine being the same for the rest of her life but she was willing to make the sacrifice if it was the answer to her problem and would set her on the right track again...get her back to the old Natasha. The Natasha that was cheerful and wasn't so much on edge all the time. She was sure that becoming a Huntress would fix all that but what would her brother say. Well he won't say anything because he'll never find out and what he doesn't know won't kill him. That's it.. I'll join and leave camp while he is on his quest.

"Thank you" she said looking down at her necklace. It was the emerald stone on a golden chain that was a gift to her from Hades when she was only a baby. She tried getting rid of it many times but it never worked and always came back to her in the end. "It was a gift from my father, Hades" she said twisting the necklace in her fingers. "I actually have a few questions: Do you ever get children of Aphrodite joining the Hunters? Because of the whole no boys rule." she asked curiously "And does it ever bother you that you will be the same age for the rest of your life?" she asked as a genuine concern because if Natasha was 15 for the rest of her life and feel it she might get crazier.

"Last question" she said looking around for any of her siblings in case they saw her " Don't you miss your brothers and sisters in the Apollo cabin when you are out on the Hunt with Lady Artemis?" she asked "Or do you get used to it...and do you think siblings ever forgive you if you were to run out on them" she added sadly looking down at the ground. Guilt was building onto her shoulders the more questions she asked and the more she talked. Everything would be fine she thought to herself as she pulled the silver arrow out of her back pocket and examined it, tracing her fingers over the engraved words that said HUNTRESS OF ARTEMIS.

A child of Hades... Well, she would certainly be a very powerful Huntress. Perhaps that was why she was interested? It was actually a pretty bad reason for joining. Usually, the ones who joined just to become more powerful were the first ones to get hurt. They were the ones who forgot that they weren't completely immortal. Then again, the girl didn't look like the kind to join just for the powers. She didn't seem to be as cocky as the others...

Mia nodded as the other girl indicated that she did indeed have a question. "Yeah, we do actually. They're a bit more rare, but we have several. Mailee Welsh's one, if you know her. I can introduce you sometime later if you want." Mia glanced around, trying to find the flash of red hair that often signified Mailee. "I think her shift is sometime this afternoon."

The age question... It was one Mia was still trying to figure out the answer to. "Sometimes it does. But you get used to it after a bit. It's actually kind of reassuring. You're never going to grow up, right? So you don't have to worry about grades or getting a job or anything like that. Of course, if you wanted to do that sort of stuff and say, get a degree or something, you'll have time to do it." In fact, she knew of several Athena children who had gotten multiple degrees over the years for the fun of it.

Mia's gaze followed the other girl's. What could she possibly be looking for? When the girl finally asked her last question, Mia stiffened a bit. "Oh. Well, I did miss them, but you're usually really busy hunting and having fun with your new sisters, and you-" Forget? No, that wasn't the right word. "-don't have to think about it too much. Everyone's really nice, and you'll be accepted in no time. Of course, you don't have to cut off all contact. You can still Iris Message or call them and even visit sometimes."

The last question was much easier to answer. "They'll forgive you. I can guarantee it." Mia smiled warmly. The question had plagued her until she had reconnected with Nathan. If the girl's siblings were anything like him, she'd be fine. "It might take a bit, but they'll understand. Just don't cut off contact from them." That had been one of Mia's biggest mistakes.

Natasha coked an eyebrow, she honestly didn't think that any of the Aphrodite kids would join up with the huntresses, some didn't like them what so ever. So to find out that they had one among their ranks was astounding. "I would love that" she said smiling. Natasha would love to ask this Mailee girl her sibling question and if she was still friends with any of the Aphrodite campers, she knew that Sarina especially was very stingy with disloyalty.

Of course the aging thing was a problem, she didn't want to be 5'3" forever. Natasha smiled half heartily. Maybe this wasn't her answer. Staying the same was boring. Of course there was the fact that Children of Hades weren't very common and so a Huntress, Child of Hades would almost be as rare as an Aphrodite Huntress. It made her think more and more, she had to stop or her brain was going to explode. "I Guess" she said half heartily "But don't you have the power to do the thing that Artemis does?...can't she look any age?" she asked hopefully, that would be cool.

New sisters? Natasha had never had a sister before Ageha had come a few weeks ago, it had always been Natasha and her brothers, Mitch, Kavika and Vlad. Natasha would always be one of the boys. "And it's fun? Hunting all the time? What do you guys hunt? monsters? or animals" she asked curious "I don't think I could kill and animal" she confessed sheepishly. Natasha loved animals although she never got too close because the result was disastrous.

"Really?" she asked about the visiting. "Do the Hunters come to camp every summer?" she asked another hopeful tone in her voice. Mia's warm smile made her feel better about potentially joining up. Natasha only hoped that she was right and her brothers and sister would forgive her if she joined, she knew this was a touchy subject for her brother Mitch, ever since Katrina. She felt like this might make all her troubles go away and she hoped that if she joined everything would be just like how Mia said it would be.

When the other girl wondered if the hunters had the some powers as Artemis, Mia ruefully shook her head. "It's true that Artemis can look any age she wants, but that's because she's a goddess. We're still demigods, mortals, and nymphs who are confined to the mortal world. Except for you know, the whole immortality thing." She hoped it wouldn't be enough to drive away the other girl.

"We hunt mostly monsters. There are some who hunt animals as they fall under Lady Artemis's domain, but she can replenish them." Mia paused before reassuring the girl, "You won't have to kill an animal." Sensing an opportunity, Mia continued. "In fact, if you join, you'll have a wolf and a falcon as hunting companions." Who could deny an adorable pet wolf? Okay, the falcons were less cuddly, but they were still nice. The huntress grinned. "I can show you them sometime. They're not vicious." To female humans, at least.

Mia shook her head, once again disappointed to give an answer to the contrary. "Well, not every summer, but often enough. The visits are pretty erratic. Sometimes, we'll skip a year or two, and sometimes we'll visit several times in a single year. But if you really need to visit someone, you can request special permission from Lady Artemis, and she'll usually grant it." In fact, Mia had taken advantage of that privilege just a few months ago to attend her sister's wedding. "Now's probably the best time to join up, actually, since we've been spending more time than usual at Camp as Lady Artemis fulfills her godly obligations."

"So what you're saying is that we stay the same for eternity?" she asked a little skeptical about the whole experience now. Not only would she hardly see her brothers but she didn't even get any Artemis powers. "Mortals can join the Hunt too?" she asked, confusion spreading across her face. "But they wouldn't even have any godly abilities like us and the nymphs.... and they fight the monsters? Can they see through the mist?" she asked. Natasha didn't know many mortals that could see through the mist. Unless the mortals hunted the animals that fell into Artemis' domain.

As if reading her mind, Mia answered her question about the animals. Apparently Natasha was not required to kill any animals. Phew. "Oh good" she said happily but hastily added "But don't get me wrong...I can totally kill monsters" she said a smile displayed across her lips. Natasha didn't want to come off as a wimp and just a girl, who couldn't kick ass and take names. "A wolf? and a falcon?" she asked a little more intrigued "and they won't hurt me?" she asked. Natasha perked up "Yeah totally! Sounds great!" she added smiling. A wolf sounded great, it would be like an overgrown Husky. Natasha always wanted a dog, and now if she joined she would get a wolf and a falcon, how cool was that?

Natasha's smile faded slightly. "Oh..well it can't be that bad to get away for a while. I'm sure my brothers would love to turn the cabin into a man cave if I leave" she said laughing to her self. "It will defiantly be an adventure then." Natasha had never been on a quest. She wasn't apart of the War Council so she never heard about anything until after the quest's were already decided. Mitch was their Cabin Leader for the Hades cabin. Oh man! Mitch! if he knew what she was doing right now, he'd shoot her...or at least put her under house arrest for the rest of her life. Wait a minute...who cares! He's the one leaving, I can do what I want! she thought to herself. But there was still one more question she had..."Mia I don't know if I'm right for the Huntresses, my powers there is something wrong with them right now...I don't know what but I ..I can't control them of late. I just don't want to jeopardize the Huntresses" she said. It's a constant conceal, don't feel, don't let it show.
