Tal Winchell had been told by her siblings to enjoy herself, and the daughter of Hermes was trying as hard as she could. The first few hours of the carnival, she had stayed near her own cabin's booth, which hadn't been as popular as her siblings had hoped; everyone seemed to know ahead of time that it was rigged.
After too long of a time watching the few lone customers fail at knocking down the pins, Tal wandered off, looking around at the other booths. It was hard for her to focus again - out of sheer nervousness, this time. She had gotten up before any of her cabinmates to apply makeup to her scars; she would glance down all too often to make sure it wasn't sweating off quite yet. If there was one thing she had learned about makeup from Em that had come in handy, it was how to disguise even the most blatant imperfections; the ribbons that traveled up and down her body like railroad tracks had vanished for the day, and it was as refreshing as it was disappointing. Most of the booths did not interest her, but there was one that caught her eye.
Heading over cautiously only to see her friend Mia behind the Hunters' table, Tal smiled weakly as she glanced around at what they had set up. "Hey, uh, can I look at one of these brochures?" she asked awkwardly, before cursing herself for asking something when the answer was so obvious. Goddamn it you're so stupid she doesn't want to be around you she doesn't want you here just leave now stupid stupid. "I mean..." Shut up just turn around walk away leave this place get back to your cabin at least you'll be alone. "Nice booth..." Oh, Jesus Christ. Just apologize and walk away. For the love of Aphrodite, why can't you at least try to act normal around other people? Against her will, her heart was beating faster, and she could only hope it would remain tucked inside her chest.
