Adam took a deep breath as he listened to Keelin's explanation. She didn't know how he would react? He stared at her, trying to decide how to go at this situation. "Keelin...do you not know me at all? I might not have been especially happy about the situation, but I would have taken responsibility for my actions. I never would have left you, not for a moment."
He took a shaky breath now. It was amazing how much it hurt. How much it hurt that they had had something, something that was theirs and could have been wonderful, but she had taken that away from him. He still couldn't believe she'd done it.
But even through all that, her next sentence caught him off guard. Never have anything more to do with her? Was she crazy? He took this moment to make eye contact, and held it for a few seconds before saying, "How can you even think that? I LOVED you. I -"
He paused. Could he say that? Could he MEAN that? Hardly a day had passed while he'd been gone that she hadn't crossed his mind. With a slight nod to himself he started again. "Keelin, I love you. I've always loved you. I probably always will. No matter what you do, no matter what WE do...I will never stop loving you."
A part of him had died when she broke up with him. Even after he left camp, there had always being a piece of him missing. That piece was Keelin. Now, even heartbroken as he was, he was whole again with her sitting there beside him. Somehow, he had to make her believe that.
