carmel alison darke,
Out of Character
Alias: Maria.
Gender: Female.
RP Experience: At least three years.
How Did You Find Us?: Helped make the site.
Activity Level: Daily.
Other Characters: Tal, Skye, Lux, Kady, Chloë, Keelin, Anya.
Keyword in Rules: A furry beast. Brightly colored.
RP Sample:Trying to avoid Bailey's question, irritation visible in his voice, Tal kept silent at first. But when he touched on the subject of her telling him what to do, the daughter of Hermes couldn't help but roll her wide brown eyes. "I don't do that that much," she had retorted at first, but after some consideration revised the statement to "Well... yeah, but half the time it's my job." And it was; Bailey wasn't the most considerate person, especially when it came to rules. Cabin Leaders needed to monitor everybody, and when you were the Hermes Cabin Leader, you weren't exactly up for an easy task. There were all the Unclaimeds, and then the fact that the Hermes children were notorious for rule-breaking and grifting and, of course, those pranks. "Okay, you know what? If I start yelling at you for no reason, just tell me. You can get all up in my face and say 'Hey Tal! You suck!' and then I'll try to stop." She wasn't quite sure where all this was coming from, but listening to Bailey talk - and knowing that, after this conversation, she might not see him again - had given her a feeling that she needed to be better to him.
Pros to leaving. It did hurt that he had so many, but Tal supposed it made sense. Bailey had never been one of those people to truly appreciate and enjoy what there was to offer at Camp anyway, so maybe this was all for the best. And as much as Tal put on the "Oh my gods, Bailey is the most annoying brother that I've ever had and I think he should go die in a hole" façade, pretending to be perpetually annoyed by her little brother, she did appreciate him and would definitely be sad to see him go. "Well... that makes sense," she said, keeping her voice even, once she was certain he was done talking. But as soon as she had, he took a breath and continued to speak, answering the other half of Tal's loaded question. "Well, it's nice to know that never seeing us again is a con and not a pro," she said, slightly jokingly though in reality there was so much truth in that one statement. "I thought that Finn held that title." Finn McCain. She hadn't seen him for so long; everybody had just sort of assumed that he had been taken care of by the monsters that lurked in the woods. Though Tal had never been too close to him, they'd playfully tried to one-up each other regarding pranking. "Oh? School? How awful," she groaned dramatically. "What's so bad about school? I mean, it's okay." Tal was most likely going to be pummeled for even mentioning the fact that school might not be so bad... but oh, well.
"...So, what do I do?"
Swallowing at the question, Tal looked around at the dusty August night. "Well..."

General Appearance: Admittedly, Carmel is small and slight, though that is how it is with most girls her age. She's the kind of girl that older teenagers will use high voices to and want to play with. Cara doesn't walk, she skips; she is seemingly perpetually content and it shows in how she holds herself.
What Makes Them Them
Personality Description: Despite the fact that she has definitely seen more than most girls her age, Cara remains rather optimistic. Like any small girl, she will play pretend and make mud pies and wait for you to eat them. Given the fact that she almost never had a real, steady home for the majority of her life, I suppose it makes sense that the imagination or natural resources are her playground. She doesn't play with a lot of toys that are, say, plastic, but she braids the reeds and tears leaves into shapes. She's a very fidgety little girl and can get easily nervous.
She's a pretty shallow character overall; being so young, she isn't very developed yet. She doesn't have many experiences to grow from; though she was on the run, she was cared for. Carmel is very goofy and happy yet nervous and eager to please. She hates seeing others sad or crying, and will always hop over to cheer somebody up. Cara is full of love.
Likes: Her sister, mud pies, playing, free time, camp.
Dislikes: Being sick, dead things, spiders, mean people, Legos.
Fears: Death, her sister dying, spiders.
Secrets: She's scared of spiders.
Ambitions: To become a doctor and kill every spider ever.
Powers: She nearly always wins fair competitions.
Family and History
Personal History: Nike was beautiful, not as beautiful as Aphrodite; but beautiful, nonetheless. For that very reason, she caught the eye of John Darke when he was in a local swimming contest in Tennessee. She had just come to watch, but John with all his winning and so on came to her after one of his contests. He had already spoken to her, so he just needed to go in and ask when he wanted to ask.
"Niki," he called; he had emerged from the locker room, a medal from winning the contest on his chest. He saw Nike (Niki Winning, as he knew her) and had ran towards her, after calling her name several more times. Nike turned around and smiled at him. "Hello, John," she said.
"Hey, Niki, do you want to go out and get a drink or something. Like, now?" John asked, cocky as he always was. Nike was a sucker for a guy with a winning streak, so she accepted. That night, they went to a local bar and John became drunk while Niki[/e] just let loose, considering she was a goddess so she could not get drunk. John took her back to his apartment and they slept together.
After that night, John and Niki[/e] met up several more times and did — well, the same exact thing. But all John saw her as was another prize, and he thought that as he had slept with her almost every week for a month or so, that he had won her. So when she came and told him she was pregnant, he disregarded her.
"Well, Niki, that's your fault," he said. "Why weren't you using birth control?" Nike got mad, naturally. The night before he had a sort of "Olympics" but localized to their town in Tennessee, she put a curse on him that he would never win anything again. But he didn't know the truth, so he thought that when he lost every competition and every race he entered for the next month, it was his fault.
Nike vanished, only to reappear several months later with a baby. She promptly forced him to take it, so he gave up his contests and started raising his daughter, Jeanine. He was humbled and kinder when he got a daughter, so she was raised well until Jeanine was four. Nike hadn't shown herself since dropping the baby off, but she came back. She only came back because she had seen him become kinder from Olympus. They had several dates, leaving Jeanine with a nanny. Soon, Nike was pregnant again.
John left her for dead because he couldn't see how he could raise another child. But by the time Jeanine was five, she had a little sister, Maxine (nicknamed Max). John was angry at Nike, and soon fell behind on his taxes. He entered several contests to try to get some money. Instead, he made a fool of himself. With all the anger at Nike, and the sense of failure, he became bitter.
He came home every day from work and locked himself in his bedroom without eating. Jeanine quickly learned to pass those skills to Max, who idolized her sister. She wanted to be just like Jeanine, in any way possible. She even came up with a nickname for her as she had done to Max; Jean. They grew up being neglected from their father, who would some days come home drunk and attempt to beat them. Their lives had no laughter, mostly they would hide when their dad was coming home and wait until he left to go into his room before they would come out — and even then, they would lock themselves in their room so he couldn't harm them. A few times he found them, but not so many to which they stopped hiding, as if they had lost the game.
When Jeanine was thirteen, Max was eight and their dad went on a rampage. This time he was breaking furniture and screaming. Jeanine was terrified for their lives; Max was afraid and confused and clung to Jeanine. Jean snuck the three out the back door and they ran into the woods. It was late at night, so they slept there. In the morning when they tried to go back, they found that they didn't know which way to go. They were totally lost.
They started to go in what they thought was the right direction, but once they got to their house a day or so later, they where starving and scared. They hadn't encountered any monsters, but that was only because they were so young that they didn't give off much of a smell. When they found their house, there was nothing left. It was a few ruins, burned to the ground. They assumed that their dad had burned down their house in the rampage. They had nothing to go back to.
What they didn't know is that the reason he had gotten so mad was because Nike was pregnant again. This time, she gave the baby to an adoption center, naming the baby Carmel Alison Darke before hand so that she might find her way to her sisters.
Cara grew older, being allowed to live her life like a normal child; she played and laughed and had fun with her adopted family. At school, she never had many friends, but it was okay because no matter what happened, she had a family to go back too. It was a good life, especially for the standards of being a demigod. But it all changed when she was eight.
Nike came to her in a dream, telling her to go to Camp. It was no surprise when a satyr came the next day, showing them his legs to convince them. It wasn't long before Carmel was on a plane. It was then that Nike appeared to her a second time - this time, she stated to look for Max Darke. She was her sister and she would look out for her. When Carmel woke up, it was to the plane landing; she got out and got into the taxi that was arranged to go to her new life.
Mortal Parent: John Darke, dead.
Other Family: Jeanine Darke, dead. Maxine Darke, alive.
And Finally...
I, Maria, have made this entirely up. I did not rip somebody else’s application from any site, and have followed the rules accordingly.
And…? Yes; besides the history, which I have used with permission from Aries.
