`` specifics
Personality Description:
"...and though she be but little, she is fierce."
If you are speaking to Alice and say something she finds unintelligent, most likely she will narrow her eyes but not say anything. She is one of those people who thinks a lot but says only a little; it is not unusual for you to know her fairly well and still be surprised when you hear her voice. Despite this, she is strong-willed and always ready to defend someone. Fiercely loyal, she will not keep herself contained if you insult somebody she loves and cares for - she'll do anything to defend this person until you admit out loud to her that you were wrong. Those who know Alice well also know to tread carefully around her to avoid triggering this side of her.
Though she tries not to be, Alice is quite possessive. If she makes a good friend and then said friend is also good friends with someone else, Alice will develop an intense disliking for this person. She knows that, to some extent, this is wrong, but she also likes being in control. She hates when people touch her things, whether they are friends or actual belongings - if someone steals something that she owns, she takes it on an oddly personal level, believing that this person thinks she is incompetent enough to be stolen from. Alice takes a lot of things more personally than most would, and it is clear to some that she is at least slightly uneasy with many things.
Alice is exceedingly intelligent, both as a child of Athena and as a person. She has those book smarts that come with her parentage, and she also knows plenty of things about people and their behavior; this skill came from her years of casual observing from her idle swing on the playground of the elementary school. She can tell how someone will react from something she or somebody else says, and will duck and cover if necessary - however, she is somewhat hypocritical and unafraid to take jabs at people if she feels it's okay. She has a somewhat odd perception of what is and isn't alright, and so it usually isn't as "okay" as she believes.
Powers: Alice is naturally strategic and a good fighter.
`` history & family
Personal History: Nolan Collier was a young man who had grown up in New York City. Both of his parents, Alice and Maxwell, had taught at an elementary school near the apartment the small family resided in; on his days off from middle or high school, Nolan would be taken along to those school days, because his mother didn't want to leave him alone in an apartment in such a busy city. At first, he was forced to attend, but after only several visits, he found himself warming up to the children; despite the fact that they were loud and messy, he found some indescribable comfort in them. Perhaps it was their trusting manner, or their slightly related naivety.
Nolan himself became a teacher after he finished school, two years after his mother died of breast cancer. Wanting to honor his mother and remembering the stellar example that Alice had set for so many people, Nolan threw his heart and soul into the assistant teaching and then, later, the teaching he did by himself. He gave lectures at the community college, taught fourth-graders, and everything was well. Though his life was somewhat monotonous, he was satisfied. It was at one of his lectures that he was introduced to Athena, and the two of them clicked immediately, with their mutual thirst for knowledge and restless ambition. They went on several dates, but after some time, she stopped calling, and Nolan decided that she was not coming back. And she didn't - instead, nine months afterwards, a baby girl with a tuft of dark cinnamon hair was found nestled in a basket on Nolan's doorstep.
As soon as he set sight on the girl he would learn was his daughter, he froze. Against his will, that was - and he heard Athena's voice, the voice he knew so well even after all those months, echoing in his head. Her speech was in the form of a letter. What he heard started with Dear Nolan and concluded with With all my love, Athena. And he believed all of it. Perhaps it was just a side effect of whatever Athena had done to make him hear her letter to him, but he never so much as questioned the woman's identity, and the man raised their child in New York.
She was named Alice after Nolan's late mother and Emilie after Nolan's second cousin, who had died due to osteosarcoma. The child was oddly beautiful, with long brown hair that fell down her back and chest and startling eyes that looked silvery gray in some lights and blue in others. Additionally, she was intelligent - much more so than Nolan would have expected of a child her age. She began exceeding his expectations at a young age; walking before the average time, speaking coherently before he even thought about when that would happen. At school, Alice was smart, but didn't raise her hand. She was considered an outcast, and would most often sit on a swing alone without intents of using it as anything other than a seat. A people-watcher. She never attempted to make conversation with any of her classmates, and though she knew the answers, she rarely raised her hand.
At eleven years old, she finally did make a friend - somebody who seemed to understand her mindset, a boy named Charley. He didn't press for conversation when Alice wasn't in the mood, and when she was, they talked about things other than boys (a topic that Alice was much less fascinated by than the remainder of her female classmates). But what Alice didn't know was that Charley was speaking with Nolan in secret, about Alice's future, and that they were making plans.
"Pack," Nolan told her simply when she got home from school one day, seemingly ignoring the fact that Charley was sitting on their small couch. Later, Alice confronted him, saying, "Mrs. Sherman said that you were out sick." At this, Charley turned red and stuttered that he was here to help her get ready for her trip to Long Island.
Early the next morning, Charley, Nolan and Alice piled into Nolan's small car and wound up at Camp Halfblood, where Nolan left Alice and Charley with the promise of weekly letters. Three weeks after staying in the Hermes cabin, Alice was claimed by Athena, much to her relief. Ever since then, she has resided in her mother's cabin here at camp.
