`` specifics
Personality Description:
Stubborn. Jadie is, unfortunately, one of those people who is somewhat stubborn and close-minded and refuses to believe that any opinion but hers is the correct one. She will argue and argue and may refuse to try and compromise or see the other person's point of view. She loves being right and, if she one-ups you, will most likely remind you of it for a very long time.
Sweet. If Jadie likes you, she will act unbelievably kind. She was raised by her grandmother to be charitable to everybody and, if she likes you, she will be. Jadie will listen to your problems and offer any advice she can to help you. She genuinely cares about people, but often tries to put on a somewhat apathetic front. Jadie loves to make people laugh and will often try her best to make sad people happy.
Extroverted. Jadie needs to be around people to be happy. If she is alone, she will most likely become very uncomfortable and deprived. She lives off of her friends and loves being with people. As mentioned before, she enjoys helping people in particular; she tries very hard to solve any problem presented to her. Additionally, Jadie loves little kids and is much more gentle with them than she is with people her age.
Selfish. Like most other teenagers, Jadie is somewhat selfish and often needs to get her way. If something she doesn't like happens, it ruins her mood for the rest of the day. Her mood sometimes affects those around her, because her moods are very extreme. Either Jadie is very happy or very angry - she doesn't often get sad and, if she does, she will most likely try to hide it. She doesn't like being honest about her feelings, because she easily gets conflicted.

`` history & family
Personal History: Cara Duvalier was, to be frank, not expected to get far by the elders in her life. At the tender age of twelve, she had somehow slipped into what was often to be referred to as the "wrong crowd." Within this friend group, she discovered how to pickpocket, how to skateboard, and how to pierce somebody's ear with no prior instruction. By her sophomore year, earrings snaked up and down both of her ears, she would not allow anybody to see her without heavy eyeliner on, and she did not listen to much of what adults said. In spite of the front she attempted to put on, she was a very intelligent person who had good instincts. Though she had her insecurities, she was a level-headed person. She was also extremely beautiful, and caught many boys' eyes. Her father's side of the family possessed a small bit of Aphrodite blood dating back to the 1800s.
As the years wore by, Cara found her passion, which happened to be paint. After moving out of her parents' basement and into her then-boyfriend's apartment with him, she began showcasing her work in any way that she could. She gained some recognition within the art community of her town for the visible care and passion put into her work, and sold many paintings in galleries. She and her boyfriend maintained a healthy relationship for about a year and a half, hardly arguing. It was at this point that Cara began to crave change. Her thirst for new experiences left her boyfriend feeling as though she was unsatisfied with him, and this began to create tension between the couple. One early morning, they fought and, though the reason was insignificant, it left Cara feeling upset and unloved. Cara was scheduled to show at a gallery that afternoon. As it happened, one of the paintings was of the Greek god Hermes, who was present at the gallery that day.
Flattered by the deliberation and care put into Cara's painting, though the image itself did not look anything like him, Hermes approached the artist and complimented her work. Though she was still fuming from the morning's disagreement, Cara was somehow drawn to Hermes. He reminded her of her high school crush, in the way that he was bold and attractive and healthily confident. Their eyes were also alike.
Lying and claiming that he was an artist passing through town, Hermes offered to buy the painting from Cara. Flattered that such a man would admire her painting that much, Cara sold it to him, but decided she wanted to get to know such an interesting person. She inquired lightly if he would perhaps be interested in grabbing a drink and, of course, he agreed. One drink turned to two and then to three and Cara kept catching herself thinking about all the ways her boyfriend had been wrong these last few months. The morning's events and the ones leading up to it had left her with little faith in the relationship.
Hermes and Cara had sex that very night and, though Cara woke up in a daze, she found herself at her boyfriend's side the following morning. She remembered nothing of the previous night's events, due to a combination of intoxication and work by Hermes, but could still recall those eyes. When she discovered she was pregnant, she and her boyfriend were both under the impression that it was their baby. After several more fights, each more ferocious than the last, Cara and her boyfriend separated and she moved back into her parents' basement, pregnant and alone.
When the child was born, Cara named her Jade Malia. The child kept her mother's last name and became Jade Malia Duvalier. Her grandparents called her Jadie, and so she became Jadie. She was an extremely inquisitive child, always questioning everything and stealing things to inspect them more closely. By the time she was seven, she was diagnosed with ADHD and, by age ten, dyslexia. Around this same time, Cara received a mysterious letter in the mail that she never showed to anybody else.
Jadie always displayed an extreme disinterest in school. She often got in trouble for not doing her schoolwork, and this merited several parent-teacher phone calls. Cara did not push Jadie to do well in school, instead leaving her to her own devices. By the time she was twelve, Jadie was consistently failing school, despite the fact that her intelligence was above average for her age. She liked learning, but not school. Her grandmother did not approve of her daughter's lack of reaction to Jadie's grades and pulled her out of public school, instead beginning to homeschool her. One day, when Grandma and Jadie were coming home from a routine visit to the local grocery store, they found Cara and a strange man in the living room.
The "strange man" turned out to be a satyr who, in turn, explained everything about Jadie's parentage and Camp Halfblood to Jadie and her stunned grandmother. Jadie flat-out refused to go, and the satyr and Cara could not convince her. Finally, though, at age fifteen, Jadie gave in, and her mother escorted her to Camp. She has been here for a month and turned sixteen in the Hermes cabin. Jadie is, as of now, unclaimed.
Mortal Parent: Cara Duvalier.
Other Family: None.
