General Information
Full Name: Bailey Anthony Allison
Gender: Despite the name, he is indeed male.
Birthday: 7/7/1997
Age: Fifteen
Camp Experience: One year
Sexual Orientation: Heterosexual
Claim Status: Yup
Divine Parent: Hermes
Looks
Hair: Bailey's hair is dirty blonde and curly. He's constantly brushing it out of his eyes.
Eyes: He has blue eyes that gleam mischievously.
Height: 5'4''
Weight: 138 lbs
Picture: Click
Playby: Jeremy Sumpter
Dressing Style: Bailey really doesn't give a damn about his appearance. He'll throw on anything that's clean, not bothering to make sure stuff matches. Thus, he'll sometimes don colors that clash. Bailey's also the type of guy who's never dressy enough for formal events. For example, he wore a simple button down shirt and khakis to his cousin's wedding.
He prefers t-shirts over long sleeves because he hates the feeling of clothing against his limbs. Bailey finds it too constricting and "chokes him". Thankfully, he doesn't get cold easily, so he can wear them year round. Bailey also loves cargo shorts because he can fit so many pranking items/other useful things in the multiple pockets. The more pockets, the better. He's usually barefoot or wearing flip-flops. In the summer, he's usually wearing boardshorts as he spends most of his time in the water.
General Appearance: Bailey's very short compared to most guys his age. He dislikes this immensely but has started to come to accept it, often cracking jokes about his "midgetness". Bailey has a wiry frame and broad shoulders after spending years swimming and surfing.
Like most teenagers, he suffers from acne and would love to find a way to get rid of it. His features are slightly angular and elvish, thanks to his dad. Bailey is almost always smirking and often looks as if he knows something you don't. Often, it's because he's set up a prank and is waiting for someone to fall for it. However, whenever he's lying, he'll keep his face completely blank. His poker face gives nothing away, and he'll look you straight in the eye even when telling the most outrageous lie.
Bailey doesn't walk; he saunters. He's extremely arrogant and narcissistic, and it shows. It gives one the impression that he thinks he owns the world. Bailey's stride is also quite slow, almost methodic. It shows when he's fighting as well. Every movement is precise and carefully rehearsed. This is due to his surfing accident.
What Makes Them Them
Personality Description: Bailey is a go-with-the-flow person. He's extremely lazy and doesn't see the point of doing anything unless there's a reward. However, he loves adventures. Bailey can be a bit arrogant and often overestimates his abilities which often leads to trouble. He isn't impulsive. In fact, he'd rather plan something out ahead days in advance before doing it. He doesn't believe in living in the past. According to him, there's no point because you can't change it. Thus, he forgives easily and can be annoyingly optimistic. He will find a bright side to everything. He also finds people who take life too seriously and pessimists to be extremely annoying. According to him, there's nothing more to life than enjoying it. He simply doesn't see the point in contemplating or mulling over things unless it's a plan for a prank.
When he does get mad, he usually takes a couple of whacks at a straw dummy and that'll usually put him in a good mood. He'll also get back at that person through a prank or two. Usually, he manages to stay calm and cool. However, when he's extremely angry, he'll explode. Insults, screams, and profanity, along with a couple of punches, will be thrown at the unfortunate recipient. Thankfully, he rarely loses control.
He's known to voice his opinion if he feels that it's needed. Or if it's not needed. It doesn't matter; he just has to let someone know what he thinks. He also stands up for what he believes in and can be quite stubborn. He hates being told what to do and being bossed around. Woe to the person who tries to do this because Bailey will launch into an endless tirade.
Bailey is an amazing liar. With over 11 years of experience, he can fool almost anyone into believing something. He can also be extremely persuasive.
Despite his love for swordplay and experimenting with various weapons, Bailey isn't a very good fighter in real life. Sure, he can take out most people during a duel at camp. However, in real life, he would much rather run than kill. Because of this, some see him as a coward. He doesn't believe in killing people, and it's even hard for him to bring himself to kill a monster.
As for his romantic relationships, they tend to end very quickly. He's usually the dumpee, not the dumper because his girlfriends get tired of how lazy and immature he can be. However, he's not one to sulk over being dumped. He'll just get back up and start flirting with someone else.
Likes: swimming/surfing/snorkeling/other water sports (He's no son of Poseidon, but he absolutely loves the beach), complex and grand pranks, bright colors, summer, warm weather, action/adventure novels, fooling people into believing extravagant lies, April Fool's Day, anything adrenaline-inducing
Dislikes: people who take life too seriously, his name, pessimists, gloomy or depressing books/movies/etc, simple and overdone pranks, being still, running
Fears:
- Being injured again. He's terrified that another injury could make it so that he will never be able to surf (or even swim) again.
- Enclosed spaces. Bailey's a bit claustrophobic. While he won't freak out if shut in small spaces for a few minutes, he'll start panicking after half an hour or so. He'd much rather be out in the open.
- Death. According to him, he's too young to die! He has major plans for the future, and he doesn't want something stupid like death to stop him.
- Sickness and injury. Again, he doesn't want something like that to put a stop to his plans. Thus, Bailey doesn't take significant risks. All of his "risks" (such as surfing and bungee-jumping) are controlled. He knows that the chances of injury are very slim.
Secrets:
- His left leg is messed up. He believes that if word ever gets out, he'll be a seen as a weakling and targeted. Thus, he keeps the details of his injury top-secret.
- Bailey likes Noah a lot more than Hermes.
- His desire of becoming a pro surfer. It's more of an open-secret since he has told several people, but he generally doesn't immediately disclose this fact. Bailey's gotten way too many negative responses to go around saying, "I'm going to be a pro surfer when I grow up!"
Ambitions:
- Wants to be a professional surfer some day. Unlikely? Yes. Does he care? No.
- He wants to find a way to completely heal his leg.
- Wants to skydive someday. (Bailey: DAMN AGE RESTRICTIONS!)
Powers: Not really a power per se, but he's an amazing liar. Bailey's also a pretty good surfer and swimmer (compared to mortals, not children of Poseidon). Other than that, he's pretty normal.
Family and History
Personal History: It was at the Summer Olympics when Amanda Miller met Marcus Lightfoot. He was a champion sprinter who had quickly risen to fame. Strangely, no one knew who he was or where he came from. All they knew was that he had begun running a few years ago and quickly ascended to the lever of the elite. For some reason, Marcus disappeared for months at a time. Yet, he could still compete despite missing months of practice. This caused a lot of speculation, and he became a public favorite. Of course, no one suspected that Marcus Lightfoot was really thousands of years old and immortal. Yes, "Marcus Lightfoot" was Hermes. (Marcus-->Mercury-->Hermes)
During the Olympics, Amanda was a journalist working for CNN and covering the track and field events. That's when she first set eyes on Marcus. It was, as they say, love at first sight. She immediately requested an interview with him and they hit it off. The first thing she noticed about him was the mischievous gleam in his eyes. He fell in love with her sunny personality, sense of humor, and quick wit. They started dating. As they were dating, Amanda grew more and more curious about Marcus. She started asking questions, but he refused to answer. She finally gave up.
After a few months, Amanda found out that she was pregnant with Bailey. As soon as Marcus found out, he disappeared. This time, it wasn't for a few months; it was for good. Amanda was devastated. However she pulled it together because she had a child coming. And on July 7, Bailey Miller was born.
As a child, his career as a thief started. Even when he was only three, he had perfected a system of stealing from the jar of candy that his mom had kept. She tried to come up with better hiding places, but he could always infiltrate them.
When he turned eight, Amanda married her long-time boyfriend, Noah Allison. Bailey soon grew to love him, and he was the father he never had. So when Amanda suggested changing their last name to Allison (she still hadn't forgiven "Marcus Lightfoot" for the whole fiasco), Bailey readily agreed. Noah was also the one who introduced him to surfing and books.
Up until then, he had always done poorly in school. This was mostly because of his ADHD, but dyslexia played a large role too. Up until then, he had always had awful teachers who enjoyed humiliating him in front of the class. They would also give him funny looks whenever he mentioned his full name because it sounded so feminine. His classmates would also join in and tease him. For a while, Bailey went by "Anthony" but soon stopped after being called "Ant" for being so short. Of course, Bailey got them back with a couple of elaborate pranks. But that's another story...
Anyway, he grew to hate anything related to reading. That was until my step-dad started bringing home audio tapes. Bailey soon discovered action and adventure books such as Alex Rider and The Thief Lord. But his absolute favorites were Ancient Greek myths. He spent much of my time daydreaming about being a hero... It took a while at first, but Bailey slowly managed to read entire books on my own. However, he kept this a secret because it wasn't cool to be smart at his school. What was cool was sports.
So, he joined various school teams and found that he was pretty good at them. However, Bailey made sure to stay away from sports that anyone could join such as the football team and surfing team. He wanted to only join teams that required tryouts. Noah thought otherwise. He claimed that Bailey would be great at track and signed him up. After all, they lived on the beach, and Noah had always loved to surf. It was in his blood, and he was determined to pass it on to his son. The fact that they weren't even biologically related didn't matter at all. Noah also figured that since Bailey had been swimming ever since he could walk, it was natural for him to try to surf.
Somehow, Bailey got lucky and on the first day, he managed to catch a wave. It was a whitewater one, not big at all, but it was all it took to get him hooked. It took several more days of practice before he caught another one, but the feeling was worth it. And as soon as Bailey could surf the smaller waves, he signed up for the team.
He spent hours each day practicing and soon became one of the best at not just his grade, but also his school. Through sheer hard-work, Bailey managed to win his first competition at age 11. As he stood, grinning, clutching his prize (gift certificate to a surf shop), he became aware that people were pointing at his head.
"Huh?" Bailey looked up and saw a hologram of a caduceus with a snake entwined around it. Now, this snake looked real and it was writhing above his head so he did the only logical thing; he ran away as fast as he could. When he finally stopped, he found himself in a little cove. By then, the snake had disappeared. Sighing with relief, Bailey looked up and found a man leering at me. He didn't quite look human. He raised his flamethrower and aimed at me. Quickly, Bailey dodged the streams of fire and ran back to safety. He alerted the police, but they found no such man. In fact, they thought he was lying. This infuriated Bailey, and he started screaming at them. Well, apparently they didn't appreciate being yelled at because they told him to either shut up or get kicked off the team. Needless to say, he went with option #1.
The next few years went smoothly. He won many more races and was working his way up to becoming a professional. When he told Amanda this, she gave him a funny look. It's gotta be about my biological father he thought. She always had that look on her face when he mentioned hid dad by birth. However, she refused to speak any more about him.
On one cloudy day, Bailey went to the beach as usual. He planned on just practicing a bit before heading home before it rained. However, as he paddled out, he saw another surfboard to his right, containing a black mastiff. It was paddling straight towards him. To avoid it, Bailey paddled away as fast as possible, not looking. He had just cut off another surfer when a massive wave came out of the middle of nowhere, pushing the two surfers together. Bailey blacked out.
It was a few days before Bailey got out of his coma. As soon as he woke up, he spotted Amanda and asked, "What the hell happened?" He had no recollection of the events. As gently as she could, Amanda explained that when he had collided with the other surfer, their boards had probably knocked them out. Both had probably been unconscious when the wave had forced both underwater, knocking Bailey against a reef bed. The sharp coral had horribly mangled his left leg and scratched his back. An anonymous person had called for an ambulance almost immediately. The body of the other surfer was never found.
Bailey took all this in. Not only was his dominant leg terribly injured, but he had probably also caused the death of a fellow surfer. After Amanda had left, he completely broke down. All his hopes were gone, washed away, and he had just killed someone.
A few minutes, or maybe it was hours (Bailey couldn't really tell), he felt a hand clasp his shoulder.
"What?" Bailey whipped around, wincing as a cut in his back reopened. Quickly brushing the tears off his face, he asked, "Who the hell are you?"
"Guess."
Bailey suddenly realized that he had seen the person before. But it couldn't be possible... It simply couldn't. But it had to be. "Y-y-you're that surfer. The one I crashed into. Dude, I'm so, so sorry. Really and-"
The teen cut him off and said, "It's ok," before flashing him a smile. "I saw the hellhound," she stated simply after a while.
Bailey gasped before smiling a bit as well. "I knew it! I knew I wasn't dream- Wait, what did you call it? A hellhound? But dude, those things don't exist. That's just legend and myth and stuff..." He could tell from the look on her face that I was wrong...
Her eyes took Bailey in. "Yes, he must be a demigod..." she muttered to herself.
"Uh, what? Did you just call me a demigod? As in part god?"
"Let me guess.. You don't know your biological father."
"How'd you know?"
"I'll explain later. Tell me about yourself."
Bailey hesitated. Naturally, Amanda had warned him not to talk to strangers. But for some reason, he had to tell someone. That night at the awards ceremony with the flamethrower wielding man still gave him nightmares. And it wasn't just him. Lately, Bailey got the feeling that he was being watched. It was really creepy... So, Bailey told him everything.
When Bailey finished, the stranger said, "Yes. You're a son of Hermes." And with that, she started talking about how the Greek Gods were real. Bailey had never heard so much bull.
He snorted. "Dude. I have never heard so much crap in my life."
The other teen grew angry. "Then, how do you explain the hellhound? Or the chimera?"
"The WHAT?"
"You didn't honestly think there was a random man who was lurking on the beach with a flamethrower, did you? That was the mist! It made you see a man when there was a monster! So, how do you explain all of that?" When Bailey didn't respond, she sighed and said, "Look, you've gotta believe me. I'll prove that they exist." And with that, he reached into his backpack and pulled out a jar of saltwater.
Bailey peered at it in curiosity and gasped as the teen started to manipulate the water. It rose, suspended in the air, before crashing down. For the finale, the teen asked Bailey to extend his arm. Bailey reluctantly obliged. The stranger then poured a bit on a stray cut. After a brief flash of pain, the cut disappeared.
Staring at his arm, Bailey asked, "H-how the hell did you do that?"
"I'm a daughter of Poseidon. When you were knocked out, I surrounded you in air before calling the police. That's why you're still alive."
Bailey just stared, shocked. "Uh, thanks." He had no idea what to say. He was still in shock after hearing everything about this camp and how the girl was a cabin leader on some quest or something. It was ridiculous, but the girl had shown him the water trick thing...
The stranger seemed to sense Bailey's confusion and simply nodded. "I'll see you at camp later, ok?" And before Bailey could recollect himself and bombard the girl with more questions, he was gone."
That evening, Amanda appeared in his hospital room, holding out a letter. "Honey, this is for you," she said. Bailey took the letter and slit it open. Inside was a sheet of paper covered with Ancient Greek and a brochure for some camp called "Camp Half-Blood." Surprisingly, Bailey found that he could understand the Ancient Greek. It was a letter from his dad, Marcus Lightfoot. But below the signature, was the name "Hermes." In it, he explained how he was a Greek God and had to leave Amanda. He also explained how it was too dangerous for Bailey to stay in California and how he had to go to some camp.
"Damn it! She was telling the truth!" Bailey couldn't believe it. His career as a pro surfer had just ended, and he had just destroyed his leg because of some overgrown dog. And on top of all that, he would have to leave all of his friends and go to some stupid camp. As Bailey was fuming, Amanda read her letter from Hermes. She nearly fainted when she saw the signature.
When she had finally recovered, Noah had arrived at the hospital and saw them staring blankly into space. "What's wrong?" He noticed the letters that they had tossed to the side and picked them up. He quickly read through Mom's letter since Bailey's was in Ancient Greek. When he was finished, he too was speechless. The Allisons sat there for a while, in complete shock.
Bailey finally decided to break the silence. "Mom? Dad? Do I have to go to this 'Camp Half Blood'" he asked. No matter what powers he may have, he really didn't want to.
Amanda sighed. "Yes. Your father says it's the only safe place."
Noah glanced at her. "I guess you have to..."
It didn't take long before Bailey came up with a way to postpone his departure for New York. "Ok... But after physical therapy. I don't care if my leg's messed up. I'm not going until I can surf."
Amanda and Noah stared at him, shocked. But Noah's look of shock soon turned into one of pride. "That's my son."
And so after an operation and months of physical therapy, Bailey was finally able to walk somewhat normally and even jog. Then came July 7, his birthday and the end of physical therapy. It was a sunny, unusually cool day when Bailey strode into the surf, clutching his board under his arm. It wasn't hard to paddle out at all. He had come to depend on his upper body strength lately and had swum plenty during those months.
After finally turning his board around, Bailey waited. And waited. And then the moment finally came. He stood up in one effortless movement, staring straight ahead of him. His board caught the wave, and he rode it all the way back to the beach before falling off, his eyes blurry with tears. He had done it.
The night was spent partying and hanging out with friends and family, celebrating the accomplishment. However, it also meant that the next day, he would have to attend the camp.
The next day, he flew to New York, and Noah drove me to the camp. Hesitatingly, Bailey stepped across the camp boundaries and looked back. And the only father he had ever known waved sadly and turned away.
The first few months were horrible. The surfing wasn't as good, and he missed his family. Plus, he wasn't good at anything besides swimming, which was considered a "Poseidon thing" and pranking. Everything else, such as thieving, running, fighting, and Capture the Flag, required speed, something he didn't have due to the injury.
Bailey just wanted to be normal. It took another year (and another monster attack) before he finally realized that it was never going to happen. He also realized that he might as well grin and bear it. Besides, he was lucky to even have a beach to surf in, and he still had pranking. Gradually, he became much better at swordplay, learning that while he couldn't duck or move as fast, his upper body strength definitely helped with manipulating the sword.
Still, he would much rather be in California, living a normal life.

And Finally...
I, Ana, have made this entirely up. I did not rip somebody else’s application from any site, and have followed the rules accordingly.
And…? Oui.
