`` specifics
Personality Description:
To put it simply, Talia is the kind of person who changes like the weather. Most people get tired of this within several months, and for good reason: if you have a relationship of any sort with Tal, you'll constantly be guessing which version of her you're going to get that day. This guessing game is not for everybody, and not many people would say it would be worth it to wait out the storm. Tal is not as good a friend as she would like to be. Sure, she tries her best, but her best has grown weaker and weaker as her trust in other people has been diminished. Yes, she has a select small group of people whom she would entrust her life to. She genuinely puts her heart and soul into her relationships, but the fact remains that she is not good with people, even those she loves most.
There will be times when she will want to speak to only one person for days at a time and will not give that person a minute alone. There will be other times when she is cold and distant for reasons that make sense to none but her. For the most part, Talia is very pessimistic and has a very negative outlook on most situations. She expects the worst and halfheartedly hopes for the best, but has learned not to expect luxury. Growing up in a camp with so many other people and so many unusual situations has conditioned her to fend for herself if she wants most luxuries, and even then, she is sometimes unable to do so.
Tal is full of contradictions, another reason that most people are unable to form a strong relationship with her: she is a living, breathing paradox. Some days she will lift you up and cater to your every need; other times she will spit cutting remarks at you that friends don't say. She does not trust most people, but will pour out her heart and soul to you on certain days. She craves every ounce of attention she can get, but shies away once she receives it. She maintains a neutral face, but has a storm brewing inside of her at all times.

`` history & family
Personal History:
A college-age student by the name of Nicolette Winchell was spending a year abroad at a university in France by her mother's suggestion; she worked multiple jobs to pay for her rent and essentials. There was no room for much more, but she always made sure she looked better than she so often felt. There was one thing she knew she had no time for in her life, and that was romantic relationships. Nights in dark hotel rooms were one thing, but the thought of an involved romantic relationship terrified Nicolette. She fancied living alone.
Among other things, she was employed at a café in a rich portion of her university's city. It was there that she met Hermes; he was entranced by her mysterious breed of beauty, and she saw him as yet another customer. There was nothing outstanding about him, she thought as she filled his order. That night was a slow night at her place of employment. Before long, the place had drained, with the exception of one customer. Hermes. He sipped his drink slowly and deliberately, keeping his eyes trained on the lone worker behind the counter. Nicolette was flattered, but kept her distance. When Hermes asked her questions, she answered drily and monosyllabically if possible. When she shooed him out for closing, he left with determination, and frequented the place daily.
Soon enough, he was added to Nicolette's long string of one-night stands. He still frequented the café, but those visits got less and less frequent before his disappearance. He had business in New York City. He could not chase a mortal who did not want him for longer than a night.
Nicolette began throwing up in the mornings. When she learned that she was carrying not one but two children, she dropped out of school and moved back to her parents' house. Terrified of the thought of parenthood but even more terrified of abortion, Nicolette gave birth to twin girls on June thirteenth, 1994. She christened them Talia and December "Em". She treated her daughters less like daughters and more like acquaintances. Nicolette provided them with everything they needed, but emotionally, they had nothing but each other. Nicolette was not nurturing. She was practical. She was their mother, but she was not a mom. Food, water, and shelter - she gave them that. She paid for the things they did. But she never hugged them or read them stories before bed.
When the girls were twelve years old, a satyr called at the Winchell residence, and they were brought to camp. Claimed a mere week after their arrival, the twins often stuck together, but grew apart slowly when they became teenagers. Where Em was feminine and organized and sometimes bossy, Talia was carefree and messy and preferred hanging out with the boys of the camp. But they remained on good terms nonetheless. The Winchells had a family history of depression and bipolar disorder; Tal was depressed, but as she stayed in camp year round, it went undiagnosed for several years.
One of Tal's best friends at camp was a boy named Luke, whom she fell in love with at a later age. When he passed away, her depression spiked, and though she is recovering, it still interferes with her everyday life.
Mortal Parent: Nicolette Winchell. [x]
Other Family: December "Em" Winchell, twin sister.
