"Scarlet and crimson – flaming, the sun
Dragonfly Driven, on delicate wings
Rising to hunt
Seeking its prey"
Dragonfly Driven, on delicate wings
Rising to hunt
Seeking its prey"
-Michael Clucas
It must have been about twelve o'clock. Noon. That time which most would be sitting down in the dining pavilion, with all of their friends, being as sociable as ever as they scoff through chocolate and strawberries. Though hopefully not at the same time. Unless people like such combinations. Nevertheless, during the lunch rush hour, Ada preferred quieter arrangements. At least until everything cooled down. She cared not for social conventions such as lunch time chatter. So here she was, bow in hand, full drawn, seeking a little bit of that adventure she experienced whilst on the hunt. Monsters were known to venture through the forest, and though they were most common to appear at night, they did sometimes appear during the day, and that was exactly what made the hunt a little more thrilling. Boring after too long, perhaps, but Ada was used to the wait. She'd been hunting for a hundred years, she was most certainly used to the necessary waiting in hunting.
Today, the amount of time it had taken to get impatient with the search only fastened. Ada had arrived at Zeus' fist. From camp to here, she had found nothing. It was rather disappointing. Withdrawing her bow, Ada started the climb to the top of the rock formation and sat herself down at the top of it, legs dangling over the edge. It was rather relaxing being here, to be honest. Free from the bores of camp. The world in which people act as though you care about the little things that don't concern or benefit you. It's stupid to believe anyone could really give a flying rat's behind about who was in a relationship with who and so on. Out here, you're free from that. That in itself is a delightful thought. Just Ada and nature, the way it was intended. Though, if it were to be so, Ada would have preferred to have Artemis at her side - Artemis was an amiable character, especially with the endless promise of immortality. That relationship benefited Ada better than anything ever could. Provided she didn't die in battle somehow, Ada was bound to a chaste eternity. The idea of chastity, too, delighted her. Ada cared not for sexual pursuits or pleasure. It was a fool's game.
With her bow down beside her, with her hand resting on it ready for a quick draw, Ada lay herself back on the stone. Of course, her legs remained in their position, dangling over the edge of the rock, but Ada had made herself a little more comfortable. Just a little more relaxed. Her gaze focused on the clouds in the sky, the peaceful atmosphere that surrounded her. This was so wonderful. Nothing could ruin this.
