It had happened again last night. Amelie had woken up in tears. Though it was all silent, it always was. Spencer, her twin, hadn't been awake early enough to notice her weeping and so Amelie had merely curled up in her bed, hugging her blankets, her face buried within them. Her dream had been about the event - that which features in her flashbacks. Her step father silently walking into the room and advancing. Though she always woke up before Spencer ever came to help. Thus, her fear was at its height in that sole moment.
Amy had used to excuse to get up early, spending only ten minutes in the comfort of her blankets. Quickly slipping into clothes, Amy put on a little make up - as usual - and brushed through her hair before making her way to the dining pavilion for breakfast. It was unlikely that many people would be there, due to the time, however Amy would not rule it out. At least a few people were bound to be there. Some people in this camp got up incredibly early. Not that Amy couldn't understand this. She hated sleep. It was the place in which the mind could fully take over. For a scarred and fearful mind, this was a terrifying thing. Amy would stay awake as long as she could if it weren't for her brother advising her to sleep. It wasn't good for her to stay away from sleep. To stay awake all the time. It was unhealthy, and wouldn't have been long until she was in the grasp of death.
Upon arriving at the pavilion, Amy gathered together a few items of food - small things she fancied to eat for breakfast. It wasn't much, but it wasn't like she was starving herself. She simply wasn't that hungry. Then she sat herself down on the table for the minor gods. A few people were already there, but the majority of the cabin Amelie had left behind to sleep upon her exit this morning. It was similar for some other tables. A few were awake and ready, but some tables were still aching for a demigod to sit down by it. Amelie started to slowly eat her food, which, seeing as her portions weren't too greatly sized, didn't take too long. Before long, she was sitting with a warm drink cupped in her hands. Admittedly, she still wasn't fully awake, and the morning cocoa wasn't helping - but she didn't like coffee. The one thing that probably could have woken her up properly at this time.
Amelie kept her elbows leaning on the table as she kept sipping at her drink. Though it was nice going to breakfast before the majority of camp were up, Amy still felt just a little lonely. Roughly a month at camp and she had barely made any friends. Of course, she was awkward with social situations anyway and tended to avoid them, but this didn't mean it didn't hurt when she spent most of her time alone. Even if she wasn't alone, she was only with her brother, which led to a fear of being a burden to her brother's social life. He was so much more capable than she and she felt bad for it. Like a hindrance to his social life. Even so, it would probably be like this for anyone she met. Why would anyone waste their time being friends with her? She was awful at conversations and people would most likely prefer to be around other people. Despite such insecure thoughts, Amy still desperately wanted a friend. At least one besides her brother. Perhaps one which she could feel a little more confident around, or rather, so much so that she needn't fear for being a burden to them. Say, a true friendship. Whether this was a rare thing to come by or not was not entirely known by Amelie. All she knew was that it was something she wanted, and how unlikely it seemed to deem it realistic that such a thing would happen whilst the girl would always avoid popular places with lots of people.
