RP Sample:Riley was wandering outside, jotting down notes in the tattered notebook he always kept with him. Inside were detailed plans for pranks. An unfortunate sixth year had decided to slip a rather vile potion in his drink. It had left him with raging blisters on his legs and arms. Well, Riley would get revenge as soon as he came up with a new prank... if he came up with one. No matter how hard he concentrated, he just couldn't think of a new prank. Oh, how he hated getting "pranker's block." Sighing, Riley looked up and found himself in front of the West Wall. He sat down and leaned against the wall. Riley chewed on the end of his pencil (he found quills too cumbersome) while gazing out into the distance.
A group of first years were chatting animatedly a few feet away and several other students seemed to be taking advantage of the mild weather. The air was crisp and cool and the sun's rays shone down, warming everything in its path. It was the perfect day to go out for a run. No! You have to finish your plans first. He groaned and buried his head back into his notebook, jotting down random things.
At last, Riley had finally come up with the perfect prank. He scribbled furiously, trying to get it down before the idea escaped him. He was so engrossed in his work that he didn't notice the girl who was jogging towards him. The jingle of bracelets startled him; and he looked up to see a girl, halfway down the wall, with her back to him. She looked kind of familiar, and it took him a while to realize that she was in Spencer too. What's her name, again? It's starts with a 'J' or something... He watched as she threw herself into a cartwheel and continued down the length of the wall.
Riley closed his notebook and slipped it into his pocket. He could come up with the prank later. Right now, he was tired of writing and wanted to have a little fun. Smirking, he sauntered down to the girl and said, "You call that a cartwheel?! That was pathetic! Watch this." He walked away from the wall so that he wouldn't accidentally hit it, and started cartwheeling. He managed a few halfway decent ones before stopping, quite dizzy. Grinning, he stumbled back and said, "Now, that's how you do a cartwheel." It was obvious that his weren't any better than hers, but he continued smiling just to annoy her.
General Information
Full Name: Mia Isabella Clifton.
Gender: Girl
Birthday: 15/06/1993
Age: Appears 13 but actual age is 20
Camp Experience: 2 years before becoming a Hunter
Sexual Orientation: Asexual
Claim Status: Has been claimed
Divine Parent: Apollo
Looks
Hair: She has brown, slightly wavy hair. Since it’s rather long and can interfere while hunting, she usually wears it up in a ponytail.
Eyes: Mia has light brown (almost hazel) eyes that are constantly darting about. She’s always glancing around, taking note of her surroundings. If something/someone strikes her curiosity, her gaze will often intensify.
Height: 5'4''
Weight: 112 lbs
Picture: Click
Playby: Madeline Carroll
Dressing Style: When on the hunt, she usually wears the standard Hunter uniform. That means a white shirt, silvery camo pants, a silver jacket, and black combat boots. And she always as her quiver with her. Always. Although she has the ability to summon hunting knives because she's a Hunter, Mia often has them strapped to her belt. It makes her feel more secure that way.
However, lately, she’s been staying at camp. There, she takes the chance to dress up a bit more, wearing skirts and dresses that would interfere if she had been hunting. Her one rule with clothing (and shoes) is that she must be able to run somewhat comfortably in them. No matter what she's wearing, she strives to look presentable. However, she won't obsess over her outfits or go heavy on the makeup. She prefers to keep that to a minimum since it takes up way too much of her time.
General Appearance: The first thing most people notice is her stature and air of confidence. She keeps her head held high and maintains perfect posture whenever possible. Mia holds herself with poise, and refuses to cower or back down. Although she's not very tall, this often compensates for that. And she never lets her height get in the way. She'll look you in the eye and hold your gaze even if it means that she has to tilt her head back to get a good look at you.
At night, she has a faint silvery aura and glows. It's something that she's always hated, but she doesn't have much of a choice because it comes with being a Hunter.
She's almost always smiling when not on the hunt. And even then, her lips curl upwards slightly in an odd mixture of concentration and calm happiness. If she's not beaming, there's something seriously wrong; and you should probably get away as fast as possible.
Mia spends most of her time outside, which has resulted in some sunburns and an almost permanent tan. Running, hunting, and other activities have contributed to her athletic build. Unfortunately, this has also taken a toll on her body through various injuries, which aren't covered by the whole immortality deal.
Her numerous adventures over the years have resulted in scars, bruises, and minor cuts. As a daughter of Apollo, why not heal them? Because she's usually so absorbed in whatever she's doing that she doesn't notice. Plus, they're reminders of that time when...
What Makes Them Them
Personality Description: Mia has a sunny personality. Whether it's from her dad or from living in Australia for so long, no one knows. One thing's for sure, however. She is always cheerful. Mia's extremely optimistic and is always turning towards the brighter side of life. It takes a lot to bring her morale down, and she's not easily angered or frustrated.
Perhaps this is one of her biggest flaws. Because she refuses to let herself be unhappy and chooses to ignore the darker side, she is ignorant. Mia is aware of problems such as poverty, war, and sickness after having witnessed so much in her travels, However, she refuses to acknowledge their severity. Her solution to everything? Think positively. Her extraordinary ability to ignore her own problems has led her to believe that anything can be fixed with happy thoughts. A small part of her knows that she's deluding herself, but she silences it. It's a defense mechanism she has built. There's no way she could handle immortality without it.
But this cheerful facade conceals something bigger... her worries. Although she appears to be eternally calm, anxious thoughts roil below the surface. By keeping active and focused, Mia has deluded herself into thinking that nothing's wrong. But everything refuses when she has a moment to think. Bad memories and worries come back to haunt her every moment her mind isn't occupied on something else.
Thus, she's always busy. Whether it be reading, working on swordplay, or running, she's always doing something to take her mind off of things. This also explains why Mia hates sleeping. It's the time when she's most vulnerable to her anxieties since they can always appear in dreams. Just lying in bed, waiting to fall asleep, presents an opportunity for those bad memories that are lurking just around the corner. Because of this, she has insomnia and often stays up as long as possible at night, hunting. Mia's very sleep-deprived as a result and can be found napping in unusual places after collapsing from exhaustion.
Her cheerfulness enables her to easily make friends. Or at least, reach out to others. She's constantly giving advice, whether you ask for it or not, and she'll help just about anyone. This is what separates her from many of the Huntresses. She has no disdain for males. Although she's a feminist (and will beat up just about anyone who makes a sexist remark), Mia refuses to treat males differently. Is she still wary of them? A bit. It's much easier to get on her bad side if you're a guy, but she won't go out of her way to be cruel to someone just because they happen to be of the opposite sex.
Other traits that clearly define her are her curiousness and adventurousness. She's always on the constant lookout for the next best adventure or a spot that she hasn't thoroughly explored. This love to explore new places is what influenced her most in her decision to join the Hunters. Mia was terrified that she would die before she got to see the world, and pledging loyalty to Artemis would give her all the time she could ever need. This curiosity has led to trouble though... She'll investigate just about anything, even if it's none of her business. For example, if there's a sign that says, "No Trespassing", she'll trespass to find out why it was put there.
Likes: travelling, the beach, warm weather, Apollo campers, Hunters, archery, Capture the Flag, music (indie/folk), Italian food, the color light blue
Dislikes: swordplay, sleeping, being bored, sexist jokes/remarks, gloomy weather, stereotypes (such as all Apollo campers must be great healers and all Aphrodite kids must be fashion-obsessed ditzes), healing others (she's quite possibly one of the worst healers), coffee
Fears:
- Artemis finding out the exact reason why she joined the Hunters. She also fears Artemis discovering that she is now questioning her decision to join the Hunters.
- Dying before she can see the world and experience all it has to offer.
- Seeing her family die. She know it will eventually happen because of the immortality, but she's scared nonetheless.
- Being forgotten by her family. Mia also fears forgetting about her family, hometown, and childhood.
- Accidentally breaking her vow. Although Mia's asexual, she's heteroromantic and terrified that she might fall in love.
Secrets:
- Mia only joined the Hunters because she wanted the immortality, not because she despises the idea of love and males. Sometimes, she questions whether taking the oath was really a good idea.
- She favors her dad (Lance) over her biological father (Apollo).
- Her cheerfulness is the only way she can block out her worries.
- Wonders if there's a way to leave without being turned into an antelope or being killed. Mia's starting to think that growing old isn't that bad of an idea.
- She misses Australia and would give almost anything to go back and live there for another year.
Ambitions:
- To see every country in the world. She would also love to explore every corner of the earth.
- To use her inability to get sick to help with the Tartarus problem.
- To improve her swordplay skills and healing skills. She'd also love to stop being so anxious and figure out a way to get her insomnia treated.
Family and History
Personal History:
Natalie and Lance had met in high school and dated for a while before breaking up on friendly terms. Neither one thought much of the relationship and happily went on with their lives. Fast forward several years, and they both end up in the University of Melbourne for graduate school. Natalie for medical school and Lance was in the uni's business school. It was, of course, a shock when they discovered this, but they quickly found that they still had much in common and became close friends. After a year, they started dating again, and this eventually led to Lance proposing to Natalie. She said yes.
Fast forward again, and both are living in Melbourne with a daughter on the way. Her name would be Amy, and she would be born on a lovely summer day in January. Speaking of summer, both Natalie and Lance absolutely loved the summer and everything that came with it, including the beach. Perhaps that's why they chose to live in the Eastern Suburbs of Melbourne on the oceanfront. Those were the good days. Lance's business was thriving, and Natalie was interning at a local hospital. Amy was spoiled and led a carefree life on the beach.
A couple of years later, that all changed.
After making several mistakes in choosing a business partner, Lance's beloved business died, and they lost their main source of income. This was a huge blow since Natalie had not yet started a practice, and there was increasing pressure on her to do so. In the meantime, they couldn't afford their lovely oceanfront house and were forced to move into the less affluent district, Western Suburbia.
Finally, Natalie managed to start one, and Lance found a job with another company. This time, he wasn't CEO. He was just another ordinary employee. Both threw themselves into their work, working long hours to get promotions and to generate more income, but it took a toll on their daughter. Amy was seeing less and less of her parents and longed for the beaches.
At the her workplace, Natalie met a new nurse named "Andrew", who would later be revealed to be Apollo. Australia was one of Apollo's favorite places in the mortal world. It had the best beaches and waves, and most days were sunny. Anyway, Andrew was dazzling and very good looking, but Natalie wasn't interested in him romantically. She had a husband, Lance, to whom she was devoted to.
However, Apollo had fallen for her. There was something about her radiant smile and warm personality. But of course, Andrew didn't take too kindly to the fact that she wasn't in love with him. How dare a mortal refuse him? Gods always get their way, and he got his. With a bit of help from Aphrodite, managed to have a one night stand with Natalie.
As soon as she came to her senses, Natalie was disgusted with herself. She tried to keep it a secret as best as she could and would've succeeded but for the fact that she was pregnant. Finally, she had to confess to Lance. He was very upset and even considered divorce. However, both knew the effect it would have on poor Amy could prove disastrous. It was only after Apollo sent Natalie a letter explaining who he was and what they should expect with the child that Lance finally forgave her. He could see that it wasn't her fault.
On a remarkably warm winter day, Mia was born. She had taken after Natalie, and not Apollo, which pleased both parents. Although she wasn't his biological child, Lance took her as his daughter and showered her with love. Amy was delighted to have a little sister, and even Natalie was excited despite the warnings Apollo had given them.
From the start, everyone took extra precautions with Mia, afraid that she would be attacked by monster at any moment. However, nothing happened, much to the relief of everyone. She grew up with almost no mishaps and led a relatively normal life. The only somewhat strange thing happened in primary school, when she was diagnosed with dyslexia and not ADHD. But from their point of view, it was best that she didn't have yet another disorder to interfere with her learning.
They never bothered to keep her parentage a secret from her. She would find out somehow anyway. After all, she was extremely curious and inquisitive, always inspecting one mystery or another. Thus, Mia grew up knowing that she would someday have to leave for a camp and learn to train against monsters. This was ingrained in her from the start, so she never questioned its validity and even bragged to her friends about it. Of course, no one believed her, but she knew better.
School was a bit of a struggle with her dyslexia, but she made friends quickly so grades weren't too much of a concern to her. There was one thing that puzzled her, however. While her friends swooned over celebrities and flirted, Mia found that she had no such attraction towards the opposite sex. Or even the same sex for that matter.
She kept this a secret because she thought something was wrong with her. After seeing almost everyone she knew form a crush on someone, Mia grew convinced that she should like someone as well. No matter what happened, she never found herself swooning for someone, and this led to internet searches, which is how she found out that there was a term for her sexuality--asexuality.
After being reassured that there were others like her, Mia didn't devote the matter much attention and instead just kept it a quiet secret. She wasn't too sure how her others would react, so it was better to just shove it to the side and forget about it. It wasn't too hard, especially since she had found a passion. Music. She had played the piano since age five at the encouragement of her parents but had found that she was only somewhat decent at it. As she grew older, her playing became better, and she improved rapidly. Her ability to identify pitch by ear slowly emerged, and she fell in love with music.
Even at a young age, she knew what she wanted... To stop being treated differently just because she was a girl. Mia was sick and tired of being called weak because she wasn't a guy, and she was always out to prove them wrong. And at many sports, she did much better than them. But it wasn't just on the playing field that she wanted equality. It was everywhere. She didn't understand why females had to be the inferior and weaker sex, and Mia read up (which was quite difficult with her dyslexia) on past feminists and advocates of women's right, becoming quite inspired.
At age 11, an event completely changed her life. She wanted to play rugby league in a local league. However, they didn't allow girls. After completely losing her temper and screaming that it was unfair (not that it helped much), she retreated back to her favorite hideout at the beach and spent the day by herself, grumbling about its unfairness. As she threw shells into the sand, a soft voice called her name. Glancing up, Mia was startled to see a girl, who was a few years older than her, smile gently down at her. She looked perfectly normal except for two things. One, she had a quiver with her, and two, her eyes definitely didn't belong to a young girl's. They were much wiser.
The girl, she soon learned, was Artemis. Although Mia had known about the Olympians from the start, she was still shocked to see one standing in front of her. And that was when Artemis offered a position as a Hunter. Everything was happening so quickly, and Mia had no idea what exactly being a Hunter would entail. At the very least, she needed to ask her mum and dad about it. So she politely declined. Artemis nodded and left, silently vowing to come back and ask her again.
Her parents weren't sure what to make of the strange encounter, and luckily, they didn't have to. As they were talking, a golden bow and arrow appeared over her head. It was the moment everyone had been dreading and waiting for. They knew that their daughter was now in mortal danger and had to get to camp as quickly as possible.
Because it would cost so much money, only one plane ticket was bought, and there was not going to be any return trip. She would be living in a strange, new country alone. Mia didn't realize the gravity of the situation until she was 35,000 feet up in the air and on her way to a foreign place called, "Long Island". If she had realized this earlier, Mia would've refused to leave.
But she couldn't. There was no use in crying or wishing that she could go back, so Mia forced herself to think positively. She would get to meet others like her! There would be endless adventures! She would finally get to see America and New York, with its Empire State Building and Times Square. And so her worries stayed hidden out of sight, yet always lurking nearby.
Upon arrival, she quickly hired a taxi to take her to "Delphi Strawberry Service". It had been decided that going with a mortal would be much safer. They arrived without any incidence, most likely because she was only 11 and quite different from most demigods, having only dyslexia and having lived in a foreign country. After making sure the cabbie hadn't tried to rip her off, she entered the Camp, pausing to watch as the taxi drove off. From then on, she would be alone, separated from the "normal" world.
In her first year at Camp, she had a lot of adjusting to do. Not only did she have to adjust to the new country and culture (no Vegemite, strange American accents, and freezing winters), but Mia also needed to get used to the life of a demigod. In Australia, she had never seen a monster, so she was very unprepared when she first ventured out of camp and was very nearly shredded to pieces by one. She had thought that not having ADHD was a blessing, but it soon proved to be a curse. Mia lost nearly every duel she fought in. Her only battle talents? Archery and throwing knives. Not very useful when it came to one-on-one combat.
But everything about Camp fascinated her. And despite her (then) quiet demeanor, she slowly began to reach out and make friends. Soon, her only complaint was that she was trapped at Camp and had nowhere to go. After all, she couldn't go back to Australia.
Near the end of her second year, she had begun to take things in stride. She was one of the best in archery and had come to accept that it would be many years before she could visit her family (Mia did it mainly by ignoring this fact). Still, nightmares constantly plagued her, and she developed chronic insomnia. During these times, she would go out to the woods and just practice her archery.
One night, she went out as usual and began shooting at random targets. What she didn't know was that Artemis had arrived at Camp, looking for new Hunters. The goddess watched as Mia hit the targets perfectly, seemingly with no effort. It didn't take Artemis long to realize that Mia was the same girl she had encountered on the beach two years before. So she approached the girl.
Mia suddenly stopped at the sight of the goddess who had been on the beach that day. She tried to say something, but Artemis quickly hushed her and asked her to join the Hunt again. This time, however, the goddess played to the girl's desires. She described the adventures and benefits of immortality to the girl in great detail. It only took one mention of the possibility of travelling to other countries and lands to get Mia to accept immediately. The chance to see the world and Australia was what Mia had always longed for. And it certainly didn't hurt that with immortality, she would have all the time in the world to do whatever she wanted. She didn't give the whole "no falling in love" part much thought because she thought being asexual would prevent that from ever happening. So Mia took the oath without giving it a second thought.
She was instantly whisked away and as promised, Mia traveled the world, hunting. The other Hunters welcomed her and soon became like family. Unfortunately, she rarely got to see Australia.
Although she wasn't getting any older, Mia rapidly matured. Up until then, she had led a rather sheltered life, free of worries. Her parents weren't too wealthy, and they lived in the not-so-nice part of Melbourne; but she had never suffered much hardship. Out in the world, she saw much suffering. Sometimes, they would hunt in rural areas, near communities stricken with poverty or disease. Mia also witnessed death for the first time. Although it was rare, some Hunters were killed by the very monsters they hunted. She had also seen poor mortals punished by Artemis for stumbling across their camp or disrupting Hunts.
This was when her strategy for dealing with problem came into play. She just couldn't survive otherwise, knowing that her loved ones would die and that people everywhere were suffering. Mia needed to avoid thinking about all that.
Naturally, her parents didn't take it very well. Their daughter would be thirteen forever? They were completely baffled by the prospect of immortality. However, it was slightly comforting to know that Mia would never get sick. At first, they were disappointed that she would never grow up and have children, but Mia came out and pointed out that she was happier that way and that she couldn't undo it. So, they tried their best to accept it (although they still hated the gods for doing this to their daughter).
Five years later, rumor had it that something was going on in Tartarus. Naturally, Artemis was called to help solve the problem, so the Hunters were taken back to Camp, and that's where Mia's been ever since.

And Finally...
I, Ana, have made this entirely up. I did not rip somebody else’s application from any site, and have followed the rules accordingly.
And…? Yes, most definitely yes!
