So, apparently her dude friends didn’t speak ‘girl.’ That didn’t especially surprise December, since a very, very few number of males did; but still, it was a little annoying to have five of them waiting outside her cabin, especially since she had specifically told them that she would be ready and waiting at exactly two o’clock.
“I’ll be out in another three minutes,” she yelled in response to a knock on the door. Gods, they were impatient. She’d bet her stash of organic carrots that it was a boy who’d knocked. Her ‘girly clique,’ as she affectionately called them, would understand. Speaking of understanding, she really needed to go find out what was up with Tal. Natasha heard from Janet who heard from Dani who heard from Tyler that her twin had totally broken down in front of Bailey that morning – an extremely un-Tal-like thing.
Well, it was an extremely un-December-like thing too, so she couldn’t think at all of what might be bothering her; for most of her friends, Em would have guessed at guy problems… but that was an extremely un-Tal-like thing too. Maybe it was stress from being laid up with a broken ankle. Or maybe it really was a boy thing. Or maybe she was just going through an extra burst of inconvenient teenage hormones. Or maybe, the pretty brunette scolded herself, you’ll just have to find out later and ask her.
Right now she had a lake party to deal with, and some hair to pin. Glancing at her watch, Em continued to carefully adjust her thick brown hair in a cute style that she’d created herself; one of the few ingenious methods that she used to lessen the obviously boring mouse-brown hair that both she and her sister were cursed with. It was then one fifty-six in the afternoon.
