[/center][/blockquote]The Oracle of Camp Halfblood sighed as she slipped a dangling bead earring into her lobe piercing, accidentally stabbing herself in the process due to lack of focus. She'd been doing that kind of thing a lot lately, making stupid mistakes because she wasn't thinking properly. All she got when she left her room in the Big House were strange looks, one after another; she could feel the gazes on her, burning her flesh, and there was nothing she wanted more than to be left alone. The thought that instigated the stares was slowly consuming her - well, the two central thoughts. The first regarded the prophecy she had recited, the one that had wound up to be inaccurate. Skye was not sure why this was; she hadn't known fake prophecies could even work. But now, they all assumed that it had been her all along. That maybe there had been no prophecy, just a teenage girl hungry for attention who had taken the role of the Oracle in order to be believed.
The second thing that was causing her inner trouble was her best friend, Amber - if they were best friends, that was, considering Skye had no idea what their relationship was anymore. Ever since Pandora had passed away and Skye had, for lack of better wording, basically denied Amber what she needed most at one point, they had been so distant. She didn't know what to do now, but she hadn't been able to start off the New Year without her closest friend at camp. And so, on a bright morning in February when the sun was just peeking up from behind the dark green conifers, Skye shaped her hand into a fist and knocked on the Apollo cabin door. Her ear still stung from her failed attempt to insert an earring, and with that, so did her mind. To some degree, she felt she should apologize, though in reality she hadn't done anything wrong. She had been preoccupied with... well, with the fake prophecy. The blond girl fidgeted, shifting her weight from one foot to the other, and willed the door to open.
ooc; well, that was a rambly mess. sorry.
