I would have loved to be somebody else I’ve cut myself and prayed for death This is unreal, I realize, we’re too young for regrets I gave it up, I gave it up, hard to deny I would have loved to feel merciful grace I’ve drunk from the cup, fell on my knees I’ve whipped myself, apologized, we’re too young for regrets I gave it up, gave it up, hard to deny This is it this time, I should say I had enough It’s better to dream than live and deny Would you believe if I swear, if I swear We’re spoiling hope bleeding the lies We’re way too numb to feel alive Would you believe if I swear, if I... Can’t you read between the lines We’re screaming love without a cry would you?

It was supposed to be her night off.
She kept having to remind herself that she really did love her siblings as much as life itself. Oddly enough, it seemed she was having to do that more and more recently... She could easily say that it was the stress of spending all of her time with the people in the infirmary. This was her first 'night off' in nearly two weeks, and she'd actually looked forward to sleeping the whole night through without an interruption of a coughing fit or someone's fever spiking up. Since Amber had passed out, they'd been trying to work more in shifts and make sure everyone got some time to rest, but it wasn't working too well.
She groaned aloud and shoved her pillow over her head, trying to block out the sounds of two of the younger boys bickering over which of them was the better singer. Naturally, it became a competition, and she couldn't bring herself to tell them to stuff it. Everyone else was awake now anyway, playing Apollo Idol between the two. And of course, when someone mentioned the name of the game, a bunch of other people wanted in on it as well. Bragging rights for a week, getting to be referred to as "Oh great sibling whom I much admire" by all of the members of the cabin? Yeah, Apollo Idol was kind of a big deal for some of the younger ones.
She just sat up, looked around, then picked up her smaller blanket and pillow and headed outside. Freakish noises of monsters and zombies aside, she'd get more peace outside than she would in her own cabin. Her entire body already ached - there wasn't much that a bench could do to her, really. She sat down on one of the benches in the middle area, pleased at least that the sounds of her cabin didn't travel very far.
It was the middle of the freaking night - shouldn't the Apollo kids, of all people, be asleep? She was wearing her cat sweater (honestly, it was one of the only things she had that was clean - she hadn't been able to get her stuff to one of the cleaning nymphs lately, because of all the sickness mess.) and a borrowed pair of neon green pants... She was probably an interesting sight, big bags under her eyes and hair thrown up into a mess on the back of her head. She rolled her shoulders for a moment, enjoying a breeze that rolled through. It was quiet - that was nice.
