It was one of those rare days when Zyna did not require Virginia's company, leaving Virginia to her own devices. As a result, the child of Athena had spent the entire day alternating between reading in her cabin and going to classes. Although Virginia knew it was a good idea to try to spend time apart from Zyna so that she could get used to it, she couldn't help but miss her best friend and mistress. After spending so much time serving Zyna, it felt positively unnatural not to be by Zyna's side, and Virginia was left feeling clueless as to what she should do with her time.
Of course, studying was always an option, and Virginia still had her project to complete. Even if it would take her a lifetime (and then some), Virginia refused to give up searching for a way back home. However, there was only so much reading she could do before her eyes started to strain, forcing her to take breaks every once in a while. Not wanting to disturb her siblings, most of whom were also studying, Virginia decided to spend her time taking walks around Camp, trying to keep mental notes as to how modern people acted so as to better maintain her cover story.
As Virginia wandered around Camp, she suddenly became aware of a presence directly behind her. Turning, the child of Athena had to stifle a scream as she found herself staring at a silvery wolf. This is normal. This is normal. Do not panic. Trying not to appear too bothered, Virginia nodded at the wolf, feeling a bit foolish as she did so, before turning back and trying to switch directions.
However, the wolf continued to follow her, and Virginia's fear soon turned into annoyance. Why did those Huntresses allow their pets to roam freely? Why did they even keep wolves of all creatures? They were deadly beasts for gods' sake. Finally, she turned to face the wolf. "Please leave me alone." It did the exact opposite. Almost as it were mocking her, the wolf approached her and nudged at her side.
Virginia sighed, exasperated, before trying to continue with her walk, hoping it would leave soon. After thirty minutes of weaving through the cabins, searching for a Huntress who could take the wolf away. Of course, the one moment when Virginia needed someone besides Zyna was the moment when everyone was away, most likely in class.
Finally, Virginia arrived back at the front of her cabin and sat down on the steps, doing her best to glare at the wolf. "Leave." It didn't move. "Please leave," she pleaded. She didn't have the time nor the energy to deal with this. "Please." Nothing seemed to be working, and it wasn't like she could let it into the Athena cabin.
"Just go away." And of course, the wolf took that as its cue to curl up next to her. That was just her luck.
