"Joy in sorrow
Laughter in pain
No expectation of giving
But all of receiving."
-Hosea Griffith
The sun was positioned high in the sky. In the middle of summer, this meant it was terribly hot. Perhaps suffocatingly so. Being a daughter of Poseidon, Ada herself felt drawn to the comfort of the beach in such circumstances. However, so did everyone. The majority of campers had flocked to the beach in large numbers, splashing around in the water and relaxing on the shore. The rest of the campers continued with their jobs - perhaps working on plans in the Athena cabin, or in the forge for the Hephaestus cabin. Though the latter space would be even hotter and thus more difficult to withstand. Ada couldn't be bothered with any large numbers, however. Particularly on the beach. At a beach on a hut summers day, boys push their luck and flirt. As a Hunter, this was most certainly not in Ada's interests. Though it wasn't past her to lead them on so that she could use them for what she wanted. This usually meant access to something, whether it be items or areas. Even for games like capture the flag, Ada loved to try and get the Hunters on the winning side. To win, one must have worthy allies and must know their enemy. Sure, it was only capture the flag, but Ada had a little competitive steak within her. It meant that she needed to win. Whether or not she actually did was a different question, but she was a proud woman and she felt even more pride for the Artemis cabin. Mostly for what, or rather who, the cabin represented. Artemis was the source of immortality, and that encompassed the thrilling life of the hunt. It was something Ada never wanted to abandon, something she was determined to stick to and make the best out of. Thus it was a big no to either falling in love or in battle. It couldn't happen. She needed to win. She had to come out on top. Or at least, she had to try.
Due to the swarms of cabin at the beach, Ada found herself at the stables. The place had to be cool for the pegasi, creatures which, to Ada, were certainly amiable. They had permanent benefits. They could be used for transport, for getting to various places, and with Ada's fortune in Poseidon being her father, it meant she could talk them into it. No training, no getting used to a specific pegasus. After a good conversation, they would be okay with doing what she wanted. Thing is, right now she didn't want to fly. She just wanted the space, the peace and quiet and the shade. Especially the shade. Of course, she could have just stayed in the Artemis cabin, but she felt more drawn towards leaving the cabin, and so that was how she ended up here. Sure, she'd return after at least an hour, but the time alone was much too tempting.
Ada soon sat herself on the floor, leaning against a wall of the stables. She looked up at one of the pegasi, who was glancing her way at the time. "Good afternoon," she said to the creature, her tone flat but her lips expressing the very smallest of smiles. Perhaps this was one of the less sociable of the pegasi as it merely nodded its head in response. To that Ada said nothing. Instead, she leaned her head against the wall and sighed deeply.
